Prabhu's picture seems to suggest that the watches pictured were shipped in their inner (green) and outer (white) boxes. (?)
So - some are shipped in the 'coffins' and matched up with boxes at the AD, and others are shipped in their inner & outer boxes. (?)

My AD here told me that all Rolex watches are shipped in the plastic coffins and they pack them into the green boxes at the boutique for the client once purchased.

It's definitely downmarket packaging - and the watch is all tarnished and rusty. I would send it back.

All Rolex watches are shipped like that from the Rolex factory in Switzerland. All the rest of the packaging, boxes, warranty etc are added by the AD at his/her place of sale. And would guess most of these plastic and polystyrene shipping packaging ends up in the recycle or garbage bin .

Why is there so much excitement about those ugly cheap plastic coffins?

Just because of Rolex logo on them?

They are practical for storing your watches.

I attached the pic of the plastic box because of another members earlier thread "i think i saw a fake BLNR at an AD", and of the several responses one referred to "a buy switch return is possible to a naive and new sales person not checking the serials match up." I would be happier if in future the watches came in the 'coffin' box with a rolex seal that could not be peeled off, but needed to be broken to open the box. Otherwise, do we need to have the bracelet end removed to check the case serial number before parting with 5000-6000GBP?

No, the serial number is visible around the edge of the dial, near 6 o'clock.

The likelihood of any official AD selling any fake Rolex is about likely as getting struck 50 times by lightening. So cannot see any point in having any sort of seal on the plastic shipping box.And in today's world the actual plastic box or the seal would be the easiest to fake. And afraid today many who think they saw a fake at a AD most probably would not know there ar#e from there elbow. And all new Rolex watches have there serials on the rehaut which can be read easily.

It's interesting that having read through the earlier thread I mentioned, nobody said in the replies that it is easy to spot a fake. Once upon a time, some would say they are too light, or you can tell by the finish. I have learned something from members replies, that is, that the serial number can be seen on the inner bezel. Great!

The boxes aren't sealed either. What an odd thread. The AD will have hundreds of these cheap boxes lying about, I am sure they would be delighted to entertain your demands to have your new watch presented to you in this way.

When they come in a sealed plastic box like that, you can be sure they were never touched by human hands.

Well Rolex is highly robotised otherwise they would not be able to produce the vast amount of watches and movements each year.

At first glance, it does look like a "Z", but if you look more closely, the portion of the letter "X" that (at first glance) appears to be missing is there, its just slightly less obvious due to angle, shadow, etc.

In the past when certain models were very hard to find, packaging was not my main concern. Probably would not be in the future also. (condition and price #1 and #2).

I don't understand the insistence on the watch coming sealed like this. Wear it for a day and you'll have all the same marks and micro scratches as one would from a watch out of the case. Silly
