do you guys have any recommendations as to who has a decent catalog of 1601 or pie pan dials? i'd like to find some linen or black dials for my 1601... but asides from ebay, i'm having trouble finding dials.

HQ Milton is being very good to me... I asked about the watch's specs and I got this reply:

"The watch is running -5 sec/day and with an amplitude of 268. Based on these numbers I feel confident say that it does not need a service and that it should run well for at least another couple years or probably more without needing a service."

The 1601 should arrive tomorrow. Thinking of putting it on a B&S leather black strap. I'll gauge how the current strap is and/or feels.

Pics tonight... took me 15 minutes to wind that beeeyotch. HAHA. Had to set the date... BTW, it was $2600.

Now, I'm just waiting for the B&S strap to slap it on that bad-boy.

The HQ Milton strap is OK... I'm just finicky about my straps.

I think I'm done with my 4 piece collection -- the fantastic four.

Quick question...

What is the 1601's water-resistance? Not that I plan to go diving in it... but plan on giving it a wash when I get with some VERAET's WristClean. Any thoughts?

It's an Oyster, so should be good to 100 metres at least in theory, but I wouldn't even wear an old 1601 in the rain before getting it pressure tested.

Thanks for the advice... If I take it to the RSC, will they pressure test it for free on the spot?

I doubt it. They might even want to service it. But give it a try if it's nearby. Otherwise better take it to an independent.

Beautiful watch, but a tad pricey. I managed to get this grey dial 1601 for $1600 on a leather band. All original. It runs at -1 sec a day with good amplitude and I had it pressure tested to 100' by my local independent. I had the jubilee band already.

I'm thinking Lorilil in Queens. Just to have peace of mind.
I don't want to service it entirely at the RSC just yet... the guys at HQ Milton gave me some specs and said the piece could go a couple of years or more of not needing it based on their findings.
