I completely agree. I'm actually relieved the new stuff doesn't appeal to me much. Makes it a whole lot easier not to want another.

Amassing "things" doesn't hold much appeal to me. I enjoy my watches, but I'm not a collector and it's not much of a hobby to me. I also never go to AD's or peruse pictures of the latest new purchase on here. I suppose if I were consumed with them, thinking about nothing else but that Rolex I don't have then I would spend a lot of energy scheming, buying, flipping...doing anything to satisfy a need that could never be satisfied. There are a lot of things that I get worked up over and passionate about, but jewelry has never been one of them and Rolex has moved more into that arena than what it used to be for me.

I'm also completely satisfied with my SS Subs and don't know of another Rolex I would really want. I recently turned down a trade on a nearly new YG DD for an old red sub. I thought about it about it overnight, but looking at it on my wrist, it just wasn't me. I got rid of a TT DJ for the same reason. And now with my perception of value against the rising prices and less than stunning new designs, I don't forsee a new Rolex in my future.

JJ,
I don't know, I keep telling myself I have what I want but then I am always still looking. I think the price will control my buying habits. I can afford a Datejust that costs $8,000 but logic says why? When you start paying crazy money for a Rolex I think the enjoyment and pride of ownership goes out the door and deep down inside one must say "I am stupid for paying this much for something truly NOT WORTH the asking price. Good question JJ.

I always want something else, but I also love what I've got. Yearning just keeps it interesting.

I always say it, after I have bought one.
But it never lasts long.

Wow JJ what a complex question.
Some people are going to be happy with one rolex, others are always going to chase the max. The only person that could answer is the questioner themselves.
“We tend to forget that happiness doesn't come as a result of getting something we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.”
As a serial flipper where do you stand?

I don't know but it may soon for me if not already. I have 4 (Sub date, Bluesey, GMT II & GMT) right now & think about selling a couple everyday. With 2 kids in college right now I probably need to do that. I can't afford anymore at the moment & I know I won't be able to purchase any of the new models at the new pricing. Rolex is rapidly getting out of my price range.

Too many Rolexes? That's about as silly of a concept as too many cars or too many guns. Not even remotely possible!

I'm pretty well set with Rollies and Omegas. I have a pristine 1991 SS AK (white dial) for casual, and a mid 80's TT OP date with a white face and Roman Numerals for dress. Omegas are represented by a gold round dress watch from the 50's, a 50's SS bumper auto with Breguet numbers, a Speedy Pro MK II on a rubber divers band, and my latest purchase, a 1979-80 Speedy Pro cal 861. Those two makes alone would cover just about every possible need for a watch. I kinda like the Superocean Steelfish with a white dial though....Hmmmmmm.............

I value my life!

Wife would threaten me with bodily harm if I bought another.

3 Rolex's are enough for me.

I thought I'd "quit" right when I got my AK but then I saw this great Oris Skeleton for such an incredible bargain. So much for that!

I honestly can't say when it'll end since there are so many nice watches out there. What kept me from buying was the cost but as I get older and have more expendable income, I have less of a reason to Not get those watches that I want.

So, who knows...? We all know it's not necessary for us to buy these things but we do it anyway, for a lot of reasons and maybe for the very simple reason that we can. But, anyway you look at it, we're all very very fortunate to be in this position.

My brother Peter is happy with his one and only Rolex 14060m.

I'm pretty content with my pair and the SMP - for NOW!
