I usually rotate on a Monday and wear one for a week at a time. When I travel on a job, I use my G-Shock and that stays on as long as I'm away.

I rotate through my collection as the mood strikes me. It's a large(ish) collection which means I rarely get bored with any of them. I'll eventually get around to each watch. If not, it gets traded away.

My Tudor Submariner gets the most wrist action. My el-cheapo dress watch goes to Church and other suit/tie events. The Casio Illuminator goes walking or mowing the yard.
So, each watch has a purpose.

My rotation is completely hopeless. I just wear my current favourite until I want a change. This can last for months. When it comes to my Datejust with its non-hack movement, I have to wait until the date is somewhere near the date upon which the watched stopped so as to avoid sore finger and thumb.

Same here. When I pick up something new I'll wear it pretty exclusively for the first few months until the others get added in slowly on rotation but that can mean just swapping it out with a prev favorite for a month or so.

I usually swap out watches at about 5-7 days; my goal is to try to get to all of them in roughly one month's time. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.

For me it is 2 weeks, probably goes back to when I had 14 watches, altho in those days I often swapped out watches twice a day . 6/7 watches is the max for me now so 2/3 days with each, and I like looking forward to wearing a watch after it has been a while.

I have 7 watches and I pick up the watch based on my attire or occasion. Very normal for me to switch between 2 and occasionally even 3 watches in a single day.

Hi,
I think you'll probably find that you still do wear all your watches no matter what the size of your collection. It really all depends what takes your fancy and what mood you're in. At the height of my collection, I had three Rolexes (a Cellini, a Datejust and a Day-Date), a 1950s Tudor Royal, an Omega Constellation, a Rado Sintra, and a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso. Now the one thing about having a collection like that was that each piece was very different. Each day I tended to find I was very clearly in the mood for one specific piece, since they were all made from different materials, had different bracelets and straps, and had very different movements. So although I did find I wore the Day-Date far more than most other pieces (no surprise there !), they did all get worn to a greater or lesser degree still. These days my collection is more modest, consisting of just the yellow gold Cellini, the stainless Reverso, and a stainless Oyster Perpetual I recently added. So again I still find that because the pieces are so different, one of them clearly appeals to me more on any given day. I also find I tend to wear each piece for a number of weeks before cycling on to the other one these days, rather than chopping and changing each day. |

I will probably have 6-7 watches within the next two years. I might not wear all of them a lot but i am building a collection. Some people collect cars, stamps, beanie babies, and coins.
I will collect watches not only to wear but to have.

All depends on the mood...some may sit for a couple weeks, and then spark back up.
If they sit for weeks and I am finding I don't have much desire to wear them, they end up listed for sale. |

It's just a math problem to help rationalize adding more watches.
Here's how the amount of wrist time per month breaks down: 1 watch = 30 days per month 2 watches = 15 days per month 3 watches = 10 days per month 4 watches = 7 days per month 5 watches = 6 days per month 6 watches = 5 days per month 7 watches = 4 days per month The biggest impact is going from 1 to 2 watches. By the time you get to 4 watches, each new watch only takes away an additional day of wear from each other watch. Does that make any sense? Haha, just a way to rationalize getting another watch. |

I rotate between several modern pieces throughout the week: SubC Hulk (work/daily), AP 15202 (evenings), Speedmaster (weekends). This is a strict 3 watch collection. If one comes in, one must go out.
I have an entirely seperate vintage dive watch collection that I rotate into my weekends, special events, and for personal joy. I want to believe that a vintage collection is helping me curb the watch purchases. As we all know, collecting vintage is a waiting game... So I just keep waiting... |
