I like everything about the watch including the dated 90's style bracelet and HEV but why did they have to make the watch 1mm bigger and 1mm thicker. The watch was great at its current size.

Total snooze fest for me. Sorry!
Omega had some great releases last year. Every year can't be a great one so no big deal. |

I'm really not feeling the new wave dial. I feel like Omega makes steps forwards and then proceeds to make steps back again.
Yes, they innovate more than Rolex but that does not mean it leads to great results. History proves some things just work. |

Date dial @ 6.......I'm not pleased with this. Lumed bezel insert, I like that. Waves look nothing like original and lacks dimension because they just cut patterns into the ceramic dial with a laser. It's not subtle either the way they cut it....not a fan. Better proportioned skeletal hands....I guess heh. Updated movement is nice, but @ the expense of expanding the case size and thickness....once again not a fan. I think they got their heart in the right place on a lot of these releases but missed the ball with the execution....IMO. Certainly nice watches for new buyers though....that's what the target is after all I guess. |

I'm a fan. The add additions of the yellow and rose gold iterations are intriguing

I was at the local Omega Boutique last night picking up my dad's retirement watch from a spa treatment. I asked about the CK2998 as I would like to have a panda dial Speedy. Apparently I was the first to ask, no ordering information yet but price will be $5650. I have been very pleased with their services so far so hope to buy this one from them.

Agree 100%. This Basel World batch is a total fail for me.

Actually, I take my comment back. The new Speedmaster Apollo 8 is a pretty sweet watch. Omega added a lot of very nice details. My favorite thing about it is the manual movement. It makes the watch so much thinner. If Omega offered a manual movement on the rest of the ceramic Speedmasters, I think that would be a massive success. I know I’d buy one.

I guess I must be stuck in the past. I'd like to see the '48 in yellow gold. |
