The YM is something special, but maybe to special to be used all the time.

I’d agree with this. I have a mint platty dial YM but I also have a couple of DJ2’s.
I rarely wear the YM, not because I dislike it, I love it, but the platinum bezel insert can start to look shabby real quick if you don’t exercise good wrist awareness which isn’t the case with the DJ, regardless of it being a 36, 41 or a DJ2.
YM’s are on the up price wise, now the platinum dial has been discontinued, and it remains a very unique in the Rolex line up both old and new. It’s an interesting and special watch all at the same time, and it looks fabulous. Just take care of it if you buy it.

I've got an older 36mm DJ - my first - wore it everyday for years. As the collection expanded I got a YM-Blue dial - pictures don't do the dial justice. Personally, I think both can be dressed up or down and worn everyday. The plat dial YM, to me is a bit monochromatic, but my wife has the 35mm version and loves it. To each their own - no right or wrong - personal preference. Enjoy the hunt - good luck with the choice.
