My first PM Rolex was my DDII RG. I now have several PM Rolexes. If the bracelet is causing issue, the OF option is great. I have both the RG YM and WG Daytona. I agree the DD40 might be a better all around One Wacth, but so is a YG SubC!! Hard choices we have! iMHO, my DDII is more comfy than my Subs, but that changes as I gain or lose weight. The Glide Lock Clasp wins this argument for that reason alone.
Get the YG SubC!!

I like the WG option for the Sub. But if you are determined to get YG then I'd probably go DD.

I assume you have tried to coat the underside of your watches with clear nail polish? My favorite is Hard as Nails. When I was in military school I used HAN to coat my brass and it resisted oxidation the best. Highly recommended. There is a product called Nickel Guard which I suspect is just clear nail polish. But it comes with something called Nickel Detect to test metal.
https://nonickel.com/collections/nic...ickel-test-kit WG can be alloyed with nickel or palladium, or perhaps other metals. I'm not sure what Rolex uses in their WG alloy. Nickel seems to add more strength to the WG and is more dent resistant. As far as which watch, for me it would definitely be the DD-40 in WG (or YG). The classic Rolex gold watch. I hope to have one some day. I know a lot of folks love the Sub, but to me it always seemed odd to make a tool watch in gold. And in general I'm not a fan of the diver watch, I know I'm in the minority there. |

Thank you everyone for the great feedback! I agree With choosing what is best for my style and yellow gold I think Won’t be too flashy in the end as multiple people have said that plenty of cheap brands come in fake gold and nobody bats an eye. I guess I never Thought of it like that as I dont Even notice those cheap watches either. I’m going to try them both on and see what I fall In love with. Hopefully I can Save up and get both eventually.

The Day-Date would be a bit more subtle, or perhaps less flashy, than the Sub.
Having said that, my choice would be the Sub - not the blue version but black. |

You know, I once tried telling my wife I was allergic Rolex steel and I needed to buy a PM - she saw right through it haha. Some time ago i had a choice between a DD or a YG Sub - my decision was the 116618LB and I’m glad I chose the sub. As beautiful as the President is, I think the blue on the 116618LB is simply stunning.

I’m strongly in the 40 camp. Speed dated the smurf and wasn’t impressed

If you are going gold then the classic choice would be DD 40. A nice advantage for you is the shortage of steel watches on the planet right now probably means you will get top dollar for your trades.

I would give the nod to the sub for the glide lock clasp and a more adjustable fit. A gold watch is going to be heavy and a good fit is essential, especially if it's going to be a one and only.

Day Date 40 or Gold Submariner
What an amazing problem to have! I can imagine a conversation going something like this:
Stranger: Beautiful watch! Is that all gold? OP: Unfortunately, yes. I am allergic to stainless steel so I was forced to go full gold. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Sub - I went for the 116618lb & traded in my Bluesy. It's a beautiful watch with all the benefits of a sub in PM.
If you are going to get insurance for it factor in the extra cost. |

DD40 is a great choice, as the Submariner is more a 'tool watch' for divers so gold may seem a bit out of place for 'traditionalists'.
DD40 FTW

I would go DD in white gold and pick up the blue dial or the green dial.

Of your two options, I would go for a gold day date - beautiful and classic.

Yellow gold is definitely flashy and will be noticed. If you are attentive, you'll notice other people noticing. If not, you won't.
I like the DD40. Pt is the most hypo allergenic choice. |

I’d scratch both off the list and get the Rose gold Rootbeer GMT. If RG isn’t for you then I’d opt for the Smurf. But if only YG will do then I’d get the YG Daytona C in oysterflex bracelet with gold dial and black sub dials.
As some have already said it could just be cause by the bracelet and sweat irritating the skin, so the ousterflex might be a good solution to this problem. Yes they will still make you sweat, but they have the fins on the inside to keep the bracelet off the wrist just a smidge to help with that more than a metal bracelet. Maybe just try a B-strap on you SS models before giving them the boot. |

I've owned both a WG DD40 and a Gold blue sub. I'll never own a DD40 again until they work out a micro adjustment of some kind. WAY too spoiled by glide locks and Easy link. The sub I liked a lot, but on my lighter skin, its just didnt work. I felt like a used car salesman.
Choose wisely. Try them on. IMO, avoid the DD40. Unless you like wearing it really loose. |
