A $2,000 markup on a $7,500 item is not a "small premium." That's a 25% markup for an item that is not rare, special, or unique.

The "trusted sellers" or grey market dealers are not our friends. They aren't selling us these watches to do us a favor. They are snapping up desirable SS models left and right, essentially creating or at the very least exacerbating the so-called "shortage," only to turn around and upcharge to profit off the very shortage they have helped to create. I'm not interested in rewarding their behavior at my own expense just to get my hands on a totally unnecessary luxury item a little bit earlier than if I were to go through an AD.
Sub ND MSRP is $7,500. Adding Texas sales tax of 8.25% gets us to $8,119. DSW (no sales tax) has one with stickers for $9,475. I'm seeing several new brand new with stickers removed on Chrono24 ranging from $8,500-$9,000.

I understand that $300-$1,300 is not pocket change, but IMO, it's not worth the months--even years, in some instances--of agony on a waitlist that many here are complaining about. If you're able to afford an $8k-ish watch, I doubt paying that premium will leave a lasting crater in your long-term financial plans.

Where I live there is no sales tax.

I would not characterize a couple months of not having the luxury item I want as “agony.” Certainly not $2,000 worth of agony. The wait lists for the models you are talking about (Subs, GMT LNs) are nowhere near years long.

If you’d rather blow a couple extra thousand dollars on an unnecessary luxury item just for the instant gratification, that’s your choice. I will (and did) save my money, wait, and not line the pockets of the speculators who are driving this ridiculous market.

Your two month wait is the exception, not the norm. Peruse the recent Sub and GMT threads and you'll find a lot of frustration from a lot of TRFers who've been waiting much longer than two months.
