100% agree. I’ve worn every style watch you can imagine with both a suit and flip flops and tank top, I don’t subscribe to the “rules” which supposedly exist. Besides, there are so many Apple Watches running around in suits right now.

To break the rules successfully you have to know them first.

Too bad Rolex no longer offers the precious metal Daytona watch with a crocodile strap.

1. You can always swap out to an OEM leather strap from Rolex. Chadriv has famous posts on this here.

2. I actually think with all of the sustainability and vegan trends, plus Apple watch being the dominate watch now, that rubber with a suit will not only be acceptable, but the leading edge trend over leather for the new trend.

Do it. It’s all about confidence. It’s a Rolex. Wear it any way you want.

Seriously, he might be a great guy, family man and decent human being. Who knows why people project 'images' on television or during interviews- you know what I mean. But, generally acting like a loudmouth and know it all seems to me that person relishes their image as such. Again, who knows why people act the way they do but one thing is certain: his financial status is meaningless to me.

Sigh, live and let live I guess.

I wouldn’t do it, but given the number of G-Shock, FitBit, Apple Watch and huge Panerai, etc I see... I might be in the minority.

Couldn’t agree more. Before I was a crazy WIS, I wore a minimalist 36ish mm Movado with only diamonds on the face. Wore it with everything. Shorts-suits. It was as dressy as it gets and I didn’t think twice. Some goes for my watches today - If it looks good, who cares? I certainly don’t.

I have better choices than my 519 for a suit. But that’s just me

I haven’t worn a suit in twenty years. You can wear a Rolex with anything and be accepted.

A watch is a watch is a watch, wear what you want when you want. My only exception would be a very formal dinner when clearly a dress watch is required, otherwise just go for it.

Oysterflex too casual to wear with a suit?

I am considering getting the same watch you mention, and I’m considering it as a casual “dress down” piece, jeans and t and sneakers. So for me, with a suit, it’s a no.

But, we all have our individual style and it may just look brilliant on you.

Get it anyway! It’s a Rolex

And for all you Aussies, Eddie McGuire wears this watch and he is in a suit everyday. It does work for him. I wish I had a picture, maybe someone else can post this.

They do.

I bought my b116519LN on an Oysterflex and then purchased an Alligator strap from Rolex. Now I can dress the watch up or down as I wish.

There seems to be this misconception that you can only use after market straps like the RubberB on a 116519LN.

Thats just incorrect - this leather strap is direct form my Rolex AD who was kind enough to fit it for me.

I say anything can go. it's what you feel comfortable with & what look you want to pull off. its simply a reflection of your personality for many.

A watch is an accessory - it doesnt need to match or compliment your outfit!

I put a black Rubber B on my black Daytona C - love the look!

I wear my YM42 on Oysterflex with my suite quite a bit. I will be wearing it with my Tux tomorrow night and I would be amazed if anyone notices never mind comments on my choice. I certainly would not let it stop me buying a watch I liked.

I've done it before at a work event and I have to say I regret it (watch was on an Everest strap). Just didn't look right. After that I went out and picked up a bracelet.

Your opinion is just as valid as mine, and I was stating mine and not denigrating anyone.

In fact the whole concept of you can't wear this with that is more denigrating in my opinion. Fashion sense is really a construct to say some people belong and some don't.

I remember a time NOBODY would be caught dead wearing brown shoes with a blue suit. Now its a fashion statement.

Could wearing a rubber strap with a watch really be a faux pas. Really.

I thought that was the new rubber b its nearly identical to yours but they make it in all rubber. I have the military one. I completely agree with you the leather really dresses the watch.
