Oysterflex too casual to wear with a suit?

I'm a new member and have been enjoying the forum. I am considering a Daytona WG OF. I wear a suit Monday through Friday. Would like to hear from those with an OF as to whether or not it is too casual or too bulky to wear with a suit. Thanks for your thoughts.

Love mine, but may be a little to casual if you wear a suit everyday. Rubber seems a little casual with a suit. Just my $.02.

It depends what kind of person you are. Do you stick to the rules or do you sometimes color outside the lines? I wear my rubber-banded Aquanaut with dress clothes (which I hardly ever wear) or anything else. Because I am at an age where, well, what are people going to do, shun me? lol

I wouldn't but there will be plenty who are about to tell you absolutely yes you should...so it's up to you.

To be fair, I don't get rubber straps on a gold watch period so I should probably abstain.

Daytona on an Oysterflex, smart and a good look IMHO.

If you wore a watch on a leather strap and buckle (deployant) no one would notice, if you wore a watch on a nylon/canvas strap and buckle (deployant) no one would notice, why should a rubber strap be any different?

A watch is a watch is a watch, wear what you want when you want. My only exception would be a very formal dinner when clearly a dress watch is required, otherwise just go for it.

If you wear sometime your suits with tennis shoes or non formal shoes then it doesn't matter. It's a very special watch that I think it adds to whatever outfit you're wearing.

Historically it was Hublot that shocked the watch world many years ago with rubber straps on their gold dressy models. Of course not all rubber straps are created equal, I think a bright red or blue strap would look out of place with a suit, but the conservative black Oysterflex will be just fine.

I've got my 214270 Explorer I on a RubberB using the Rolex clasp (never wore it with full oyster). Wear with a suit all the time, no issues. It's really what you feel comfortable with...

Depends what kind of suit. A nice tailored suit or off the rack from Macy's. If Macy's np, but a nice suit no way. Dress/Semi-dress on leather is the only way.

Of course you are right about the red but there will always be that guy that not only disagrees with us but builds his entire look around it.

I love the bright red Mr. Wonderful strap!

And yes you can rock the OF with whatever you want though I may consider something more formal for a black tie event.

There is no such thing as too casual a watch with a suit. Or too dressy a watch with shorts.

These are all just qualifications and phony rules people make up to slot people into boxes.

Nobody cares what watch you wear.

Set yourself free.

I wouldn't wear it with a suit unless it was my only watch.

I've worn a GMT, Submariner, etc. with a suit at times. As I am older now and more of a traditional lover, I wear a Pulsar tank watch with a suit. I only wear a suit to Church or "suit" occassions as I am a Methodist pastor.

Just my thoughts.....I'd wear a dress watch with a suit though in my younger days i didn't claiming 007 got away with it.

I understand he ONLY wears bright red bikini briefs too. In neither case will I be influenced by his attire preferences.

This is also a guy that has a drop-dead-to-die-for vintage guitar collection but has the musical technique of a tone-deaf beginner. (IMO)
Plus, he just seems like a prick.

OP: Don't worry about the rubber strap, as said countless times, nobody looks closely at watches.

Nobody is telling anyone what to do. Anyone with any sense of fashion or personal style makes choices about what they do and don't want to wear. You don't need to denigrate someone for having an opinion about what looks good by suggesting they are a mindless slave to arbitrary antiquated rules. Its simply not that way.

An answer of "I wouldn't do that" is not the same as "You can't do that"
