New (including NOS) or mint and never worn are my choices.
My plan is to add dings, dents and scratches myself, pass them on to my kids, get them to leave the watches in a draw for 10-15 years and then take them along to the Antiques Roadshow (or equivalent), where they will be certified as vintage, rare and in good nick so worth a fortune.

I prefer buying brand new but I don’t mind buying used. Especially if the price and condition correlate. I am not into buying beat up watches for brand new prices (or more).

I don’t expect my wife to be virgin when she meet me and I don’t mind if a watch has been worn by someone else.

Same for me. A watch is something personal so I only buy new and keep.

Add me to the list. No used, no grey. In my case, I’m no expert and no collector. Owning a vintage watch is not of my interest. The only way I do it is buying new and from AD. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Absolutely agree. I've never bought a used watch, and never will!

I buy only new, except
for my vintage watches. For me to buy a pre-owned modern watch it would have to be something really special and I would have to know the seller.

A few watches in my collection are brand new, but there are a few that have also been bought second hand, although they are from people I know and at a great price. I also have a couple that have been bought from a grey dealer at what I think is a fair deal as well.
As much as I'd like to get stuff brand new, sometimes it all comes down to availability, overall condition of the watch (I lean towards the LNIB or excellent condition) and how good of a deal I'm getting from it. |

I prefer to buy new from an AD and I lease cars but apparently I will be able to find lease and return a car before my AD can get me a hulk.... so I might go grey technically secondhand on that.

A true collector needs current and vintage pieces....therefore you have to buy used at some point.....

I'm absolutely not a snob, and only buy within my means... But I only buy new watches and cars. I can't stand pre-owned. Feels weird to me wearing or driving someone's used items.

Both.. If its a 5 digit with good case i would go second hand. Same for 6th digits. If a bnib comes at a good price i also consider that.

I don’t mind pre-owned but I do need it to be properly disassembles, cleaned and serviced. But I would definitely pay a bit more for brand new if both are an option. Sometimes the delta is too big to justify however.

For Rolex at this time I get them cheaper at my AD than used . I did just buy a used Omega Mark ii reissue from DavidSW . The price was great and the watch looks absolutely brand new .

The more I pay for stuff, the more I want it new. I always buy new homes, new cars and new watches. Even though I'm careful in all other financial parts of my life (save for retirement, etc) and I know I take the worst of in a new car, I simply cannot buy used.
