The SD43 or if looking at Omega a Seamaster 300M is as thick as I'd like to go and that's making an exception for the SD43 because it's such a lovely watch. All personal preference of course, but the DSSD IS a very thick watch and I keep hearing about flat casebacks, without having handled the new iteration (I like to reserve judgement until I do) I do see that it still has some sort of a bubble caseback.

Yes agree. The D-blue is def thick and the caseback is not flat per se. But the diameter of the part that sticks out is big enough that it has a flat effect on my wrist. Whereas SD43 is the Goldilocks size to hurt me I think.

I'm glad it worked for you , first gen DSSD was too much for me, I'll try gen 2 one day, would love to pull it off I think it's the pinnacle of SS innovative Rolex tool watches.

It's definately huge, especially when going from a smaller type of watch.
It took me a good while to finally adjust to the way it wears(116660), but after getting used to it all the other Rolex watches went out of my collection as they were completely redundant.
It just comes down to perception

I also prefer the end links on the 11x DSSD

They are the same design as on the YM, YM2, Platona, and other models, but on the DSSD they seem to garner more criticism

Pics from the internet…

One question if I may.
What MK dial does your 116660 have?
It's a particularly interesting reference as there were 3 different MKs.
Mine is a MK II and it's going nowhere as I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it.

Agreed.
It took a while before the endlinks of those watches grew on me and I was initially quite pleased the DSSD originally came out with it. It differentiated it from any and all other Rolex divers.
Also the Lady Oyster has a similar style of ending which makes it rather elegant. That elegance transposes to the 116660.

Check this comparison photo thread on the 116660 and 126660

It really helped me view the differences.

It's the mark one dial with the DEEP with the long font in the middle of the E also the flat S in Sea (Dweller)... its nice to have an original series although it is on a V serial it has the original mark I dial....

Probably on smaller wrists. On wrists larger than 7' it's very hard to notice a difference between the 2 models.
What you'll notice without any doubt on every kind of wrist is that the 126660 seems bulkier due to the wider and less tapered bracelet.

The 126600 indeed is less comfortable than the SDDS and for that reason I've sold my MK1 after 1,5 years and never have looked back.
