I went black for the same reasons that you mentioned.
I got mine last Saturday and I couldn’t be happier!!!

Honestly any yellow gold sub will be amazing, there is no wrong choice.
Congrats in advance!

Blue and yellow gold seems like an older persons watch to me. I prefer the black.

Both are brilliant Rolex models.

But if you are going to do it.

Do the BLUE.

I think it depends on your complexion. I expect black would look amazing if you have the right skin tone for it.

I have owned several of both and they are great watches. The 116618LB is the one. Great dial and if you are going PM a strong contender.

I thought some photos from the tryout should be relevant for this discussion and poll.

I reckon that I also incline a little to the Blue version especially because I realize that this is going to be a bling watch anyway so as some fellow members have said: if I go YG I should go all the way and get the LB.

On the other hand, if you're convinced you will get the black, why even bother with the poll? Just get the watch you intend to get, and don't let us muddy the waters for you.
I would get the blue, but fellow member here has a point.

Tough choice, but black for me. I find that the the full YG and sunburst blue has a little too much going on, while the full YG and black is the complete package. YMMV.

Go with your gut. It’s all about personal preference. I’m with you the black is more versatile refined and classy. The blue is gorgeous but is like a disco ball. I have a bluesy and it is just as flashy imo. If I went solid gold I would go black. At the end of the day though, personal preference.

They both look good on you. I usually say go with the blue, however the black goes good with your skin tone.

I don't want to dump on anyone's black YG Sub, but your pictures confirm for me just what a special combination the blue with yellow gold is. Flashy or not, it just works, imo. That's my two cents. Your choice is, of course, up to you. What's most important is you enjoy what you get.

Up until about a month ago I would have said black. I was between a 116718ln and 116618ln a month ago. I went with the gmt.

However, I’m very glad I didn’t go with the sub because seeing all the blue sun burst dials has me loving that setup compared to the plain black.

At the end of the day, go with what you feel in your gut. It’s normally correct. Ignore the rest of us here.

Congrats in advance!
I have the same exact wallet as you. Nice looking LN you have there.

To the OP -- no need to add on to what others have already said more eloquently. This is a big purchase and I'd go with the one that sings to you the most and forget about it being too flashy. You're wearing a solid YG sub, the flash will be there no matter what.

I can see the versatility argument favoring the LN. If it was me though, I'd go "all out" and pick the blue. Nothing really compares to that blue sunburst dial on YG. For what its worth, I think you get the best of both worlds with the blue. In the evening it won't look as flashy due to less direct lighting. Meanwhile it will shine whenever you take it out during the day in natural lighting.

I am not a fan of Yellow gold sports watch. But between the 2, I would pick Blue. The dial is amazing.

What he said. No matter what dial you choose, YG Sub will never be a subtle watch.
