One week of thoughts: Full gold Submariner Blue or Black

Hi everyone!

As the title says I have one week to decide which version should I choose from the two mentioned above. 116618LB or 116618LN.

For the moment I lean to the black one. Why? Because I think the YG is already very bling so I find that the blue version will therefore be extremly bling and hard to match with everything. I personally find the YG and black dial and bezel combo more elegant and classic.

I've tried also the YG GMT green dial and it is not for me. Also the WG Smurf doesn't sing to me. So the final pick ia between this two beauties.

LB. Blue goes with yellow gold nicely, and the sunburst dial makes the sale, imo. I like black better on stainless. If you're worried about calling attention to yourself, don't get yellow gold in the first place. Go big or go home.

Man! I know this is all personal preference, but I can’t even see this being a contest. That sun burst blue dial, contrasting the rich hues of the yellow gold make this an easy decision for me.

Blue everyday and twice on Sunday

Blue all day every day. Without a doubt.

I see you tried on the WG smurf aswell. I found it quite underwhelming when I tried it on and saw it in the flesh.

Yellow and black makes me think of wasps and yellow jackets.

I'd opt for the maize and blue.

I voted black. I just like the look of gold with black. In the distant future, I plan on doing the YG sub with a black dial.

I own the sunburst Blue dial and never even considered black. Yellow and Blue are simply magic. Get a yellow gold GMT with the black dial.

Don't do it OP! Take it from someone who has had the LN! At least give it some more time. Try it on a few more times.

Went to buy black, bought blue. So happy they had the blue when I went in. Due respects to those who chose the smurf but to my eye it looks cheap.

Smurf did not sing to me either. If it had a sunburst dark blue dial it would be money.

Both nice but blue is special as the dial makes the watch!

I’ll give you months before you want to flip it. Negotiate a good deal.

Hmmm...a lot of love for blue among you guys. My thoughts are like this: blue and YG is a killer combo. I like it! A lot!

The only problem, at least for me, is that I can't seem to imagine myself with this combo except for going to the beach or in very sunny days. For that moments the blue version will be a killer piece I reckon that.

But for all the other times like taking it with a suit or in more formal encounters I do find the black and YG combo much more imposing and classy.

Hmmm...it is a tough choice!

I think you're overthinking it, the gold case and bracelet makes the statement so whether blue or black makes little difference, except blue is more fun in the sun.

Black & Gold! Boston Bruins hockey colors!
The only way to go , um... well, if you’re from Boston and r a hockey nut...
So, here’s 30 seconds of your life you won’t get back.
I do think black is elegant and subdued.
The blue dial pops & is the fan favorite.
I agree: buy low; keeps options open.

It sounds to me like you really do like the blue better, but have a preconceived idea of what you "should" be wearing in certain circumstances, which is pushing you to a watch you really don't want as much. Watches aren't broccoli; they aren't something you wear because you're supposed to. You wear them because you want to. That is especially true when paying in the multiple five-figures. If you end up not getting what you really want, you will probably end up flipping.

On the other hand, if you're convinced you will get the black, why even bother with the poll? Just get the watch you intend to get, and don't let us muddy the waters for you.
