Clark: I don't represent you, obviously, but if I did, I would have advised to take pictures from all angles before you sent it off. Hopefully you did that before you mailed it. If not, don't fret about it, it just avoids the scenario where RSC says:

"We fixed it!".........."Well what did you do, full service?"....."Oh, it really wasn't that bad....just cleaned it up; couldn't find anything wrong, you must have just had the crown slightly unscrewed.".....""......"Sir, there's no need to get that upset, it was very minor, it's all fixed."

I think you get the drift....usually want to document just how BAD the damage is so you can prove that more than half-assed measures were warranted.

Much success with them - hopefully Customer First will be their approach.

Sorry to hear this, truly I am. Almost as bad is the embarrasing angle with the wife. I know, as Ive been there. If this ever happens again submerge your watch in Olive oil to keep oxygen damage to a minimum. Im thinking RSC will make it right and give it a full service. I would insist on new dial and hands. Please update us, when you can, and dont worry.

I spoke with RSC Dallas yesterday. They are going to do a full service and replace the dial and hands. I pushed for replacement but unfortunately did not have my A-game verbal negotiation skills that morning. However i can live with there decision. I asked where the seal failure was and was told by the rep that the watch repair tech did not state the cause on the computer. Turn around time is a month so I'm off to buy a new watch tomorrow. It probably will not be a Rolex either. Im surprised they did not put me on there priority list and move up my return date. I guess I just expected more from Rolex.

Good news is that they will be fixing your watch, plus with a new dial and hands.

Bad news is that Dallas RSC did not give you the treatment that you deserved.

I'm glad to hear it is being fixed, but it's a shame you didn't get what you were wanting from it.

I'd have been fine with them fixing it but a month turn-around would have sent me over the edge. I don't see how that could take more than a week...

I would have thought the least the could do was put you at the head of the line, I can't imagine a full service actually takes more than a week, and about half of that time would just be testing the watch.

If someone damages your car, you are entitled to claim a replacement car hire until your car is repaired and returned.

Rolex should give you some compensation if they are going to make you wait a month to get your $13K watch back...It is like a loss of use of $13K for a month claim due to the negligence of the RSC.

You need to remember that the watch was not properly serviced and that was the cause of the water ingress, there was a major failure in RSC failing to follow its own servicing specifications that lead to the failure and it was not an inherent failure of the watch itself.

I can understand Rolex saying 1 month because they need to follow the standard servicing procedures so more mistakes do not occur by rushing things along...that is how mistakes can occur. But by the same token they should provide some compensation. I guess the fact that they don't is that they don't want to open what might be the floodgates of people expecting some type of compensation when they do make a mistake.

Wow!....You are a nice guy.

I would not accept their remedy, as I would not trust them to take the watch completely
apart and clean it thoroughly. In a few years the movement will look like crap.

Your watch did not just have a little moisture in it.....It was FLOODED.

Now in your situation, I would only accept the watch back if they replace the ENTIRE movement.

Good news! It wouldn't have mattered if you had your #1 A Game tactics going, there was no way they would do a whole new watch. A month really stinks, but what can you do?

Let us know when it comes in, and thanks for the update.

I got a GMT-IIc back from the the Dallas RSC last year with a bent seconds hand counterbalance. I'll see if I can dig up pics. I've been hearing more and more horror stories of outright boobish service jobs at this particular RSC. Shame really.

Well one month later my Sub has risen just as promised. She is back from RSC Dallas in perfect like new condition. Sorry about the bad pick from my outdated smart phone. Im still a little bummed about the whole ordeal but atleast im good for another 7 years without a Service. Im still a little hessitant about going for a dip in the pool but I would think I stand a better chance of winning the lottery than RSC Dallas mucking up my watch again. Maybee I will buy a ticket tonight just in case. I guess it could have turned out worse so in the end Im good with the final outcome. If my biggest problem in life is worrying about an overpriced hunk of metal leaking I guess im doing pretty good in life anyways.
