When my wife takes my daughter for a "girls day out," I will take my 9 year old son for a special day too. It usually includes lunch and wearing one of my submariners. I think it is a good way for him to appreciate and understand my love and respect for my Rolex collection. Otherwise he would just get a plie of watches when I die and I think my Rolex collection has more "meaning" to him since we've bonded over them...even at 9 years old.

I wouldn't let anyone wear my watch now. When I get old and frail, it'll go to my son.

I let my brother wear mine to his prom. He knows how much I value my DJ and how hard I worked to get it. I obviously trust him and it came back cleaner then I gave it to him (he gave it a nice wash with soap before giving it back lol)

It felt good letting him wear it for a night. I know that small contribution made his night that much more fun / special. He loved showing it off to his friends and the ladies at prom ;)

Have lent out various things in the past, nothing near the value of my watches but on most occasions stuff has either not been returned or come back after much delay & not in the same condition it left me....many people fail to show respect for things they haven't had to pay for & as such my watches are staying put

If I'm willing to lend someone my car or have the keys to my house, I will lend that that person my watch if they asked.

Not anymore.

I let my Fiancee wear my K series SD for the last year or so. She's chipped the crystal in 2 places, put 2 circular scratches on the crystal from putting it in her gym bag with her ring and the finish is scratched more from the last year of her wearing it than the last 8 years of me wearing it. Not overly worried about it though. It will need a service soon and then it will come back looking like new. It will be mine again and get her another smaller rolex that hopefully is less damage prone.

I also bought my mom a 31mm Date-Just for her 50th birthday. After 6 months it looks horrible. Scratches everywhere and its always covered in grime. She LOVES the watch and it means so much to her so it was money well spent.

Also bought my brother one and he lost it...

So in the end I wont let family or friends wear my watches since I try to take such good car of them. Scratches might tell a story or add character but I want to be the one adding them.

Wife and immediate family without hesitation. If they scratched it, so be it. I'd be heart broken but they're family. Never anyone outside those people though

I've never been asked, and I suspect that's because everyone knows it's a bad idea.

I’ve never had one ask, but I probably wouldn’t let anyone wear either of mine. I’m way too much of a freak about mine.

Funny though, the first one I ever wore was borrowed from my mom’s boyfriend when I was 16. He let me wear it (GMTII Coke) out to a New Year’s party and I loved every minute of it. I actually had an older gentlemen comment on the watch, one of the few I’ve ever received in my life. I knew exactly what it was that I had on and respected it the whole time it was on my wrist. I gave it back in the same condition it was given to me. That’s how it should be but it doesn’t always work out that way.

I let my partner wear my omega or Rolex anytime he wants. Also if my dad wanted to wear my Rolex he can wear it.

I'd make them put the deductible amount for my insurance into my trust account.

then, sure!

will they likely do that? no, but at least they're saying no instea of me!

No. Not unless they are willing to insure it for replacement value!

Yep. All the time actually. I let my friends wear my DSSD often. That way it gets worn more than it normally would. I have also let 2 wear my SubC some since I got my AP. they are just watches. I let people I trust take out my 33 foot center console boat, use my RV and Corvette. They are insured so it doesn't matter. In 09 a guy I fish with slammed my previous 31 foot Contender into the dock and caused about $10k in damage. It was an accident and I've let him take out my new boat. I'm not one that worries too much about my possessions and like to let other enjoy them as well. bottom line is they are just material things and can be replaced. Why I have insurance.

I wouldn't let any of my buddies wear my watches unless they were getting married or some other special occassion. My wife or father is another story...

I had agreed to let a good friend borrow my Panerai 411. He is going to Florence next weekend for Brian McFaddens wedding and asked if I would mind me lending it him. I said as long as he got a wrist shot with the watch and the Palazzo Vecchio in the back ground. That was until I noticed his Nixon watch with massive rack across the crystal. When I asked him what had happened to it he said he'd banged it on the handle of a pub door last weekend although he doesn't remember seeing it until the day after. I immediately retracted my offer of lending!
