I think it's a better looking watch and function wise is more practical as well.

The GMTIIC is a very stylish watch ---- makes the submariner look pretty pale. The GMTIIC has that in your face style and pizzaz that the sub will never have.....

I've owned both and I like the Sub.... And I don't know exactly why lol. The GMT is a little bit more flashy.
