when did I mix anything up? the exact same concept applies whether it is a rolex, omega, AP, PP, whatever.

Cleveland Steamer, just to clear things up, he stated that you can sauna as much as you want wearing your Rolex. This is very much different than leaving the watch by itself in the sauna, the skin contact will keep the watch at around 37 degrees.

So if you can stay in a hot sauna 24/7, then by all means wear your Rolex when doing so.

That Rolex boiling ad is stone-age old and pretty ridiculous.
Officially Rolex advises NOT using your watch in a Sauna.

It has something to do with the humidity of the air, which is trapped inside of your watch. You heat it up and when showering, the temperature immediately drops and may cause condensation at the inside of the watch.
Water drops may occur on movement parts or dial - no matter if your watch resists 30 atm. or more.

I don't know what the official line is but here are the facts of MY EXPERIENCE...

I was 300 miles north of the Arctic Circle this time last year. I was in the sauna (HOT) at least once every day and often much more often. I was going from -30c straight into the sauna and then straight back out to -30 once again.

I experienced NO problem at all with my watch either at the time or since. It is a "V" serial 14060m.

I go into a sauna about 3-4 times a week with my GMT. Even after 20 mins, if you touch your watch it is actually quite cool since it is in constant contact with your body and your body temp will barely go over 40C during that time, I can't imagine 40C having much affect on the oils or gaskets in your watch...

Leave the watch elsewhere and use the steam room / sauna w/o any jewelry - rings, chains, bracelets, watches, belly button rings :) :)

steam molecules are not smaller than water molecules.

140 degrees really is not much warmer than 98.6 degrees.

Rubber gaskets are used as seals in cooling systems of internal combustion engines that last, without fail, for many, many years.

Why is this so hard, for so many, to grasp????

The sauna was "invented" in Finland, "Sauna" is a finnish word. Over here we go pretty much once a week in the sauna, or more. (70-100c) You can't get burnt and skin damaged by wearing your watch in the sauna. Well, OK if you leave it in the sauna oven and take it out with your bare hands.
