hahahaha!

There was a sales woman standing out in front of a high end jewelry/watch shop in a mall recently that tried to get me to come in as I was passing by. I said do you carry Rolex? She said "sorry but Rolex is not sold in the U.S anymore. If you do find any, it will be old stock.
I was so awestruck that I literally said nothing and walked away...

I had a similar incident many years ago and the sale lady freaked out and ticked me off. After that incident, I've to always asked the owner first and i attempt to unscrew the crown. It a good practice and serve both parties well.

too true, there are many tyre kickers around & not all are able to wind a watch correctly, simple as it may be to many of us a novice could easily damage the crown etc....as rude as the dealer may have seemed I think it was more out of panic, probably never expected the OP to start winding it...winding a watch ??? how absurd

I was 13, my parents were ring shopping, I was talking to the jewelers son(he was wearing a submariner) and we got talking about watches. even at 13 he was handing me over whatever I wanted, I tried on his sub from his wrist since he didn't have any in stock. he was handing me over brand new breitlings. I remember I tried on a brand new navitimer with B&P still in plastics he was going to sell me for $2600. wish I would've had the money then. but he let me wind em, try em, set em. whatever. it takes a lot to break a nice watch.

but most AD's I've ever been to have been complete asses. the one a few miles up the road from me doesn't give me a glance when I walk in because I'm young. the one time I had a question he was extremely rude. and for that reason I probably will never buy from any Rolex AD. unless it's for my girlfriend.

oh yeah and the question I asked was can he take off the caseback and show me my movement. to which he replied, I've been in this business for 36 years, my times worth money kid. If you want to see in your watch that's $80.
and he just said it in the most rude condescending way.
I never said anything about getting it done for free but when he told me $80 I was just like -,- your times worthless to me. Ended up going to the pawnshop 5 miles down the road, they ended up writing an appraisal up, showed me my movement. verified my movement to the case, told me the year of my watch ECT. when I asked what I owed them they said that it would be absurd to charge me for it. needless to say, I'm getting my next rolex from that shop. they're holding onto an 18kt oyster perpetual date for me.
