I'm just happy Rolex rolled them out so quickly after Basel....the supply IMO will follow the 116520 model so you'll never see an excess of them on the market for years to come.

I think even with countries there's a wide variation. Still quite high demand in cities like NYC, SF, LA etc... :P

Mayors in Florida is Florida's largest Rolex AD with around 15 stores.
And ALL the stores combined have a stock of zero. I just checked yesterday.
Having spent a lot of money with them, I have a high priority and have been
on the waiting list pretty much since Basel 2016.

My AD told me Rolex slowed the release because of the way people are buying and flipping, but I am not so sure I believe that.

I wish it were so easy to get, because I would have one.
Maybe it's just Florida.

Definitely not paying current prices of even trusted sellers.

Similar here in Socal. Places here are just not getting them all that fast. While I have zero priority I just want to see one in the wild even if being sold to a whale.

Sorry, even with all the vouching, I still don't believe the OP has acquired so many of these new Daytona's. I will gladly eat my words when you post your pics of all of these watches.

I really like how Rolex controls these. I just bought a Deep Sea Blue and had to get on a list for it and wait my turn. Am currently on a list for Daytona C. This is how the values remain at high levels.

Not suprising. It is all in who you know. Same stuff happens with limited production cars (i.e Porsche GT cars). Some people get multiple ones and usually flip them while others are either on lists forever or just don't get them at all.

My AD ,in the Midwest, just told me exact same same thing after he spoke to his rep this month.... Rolex slowing it down because of the flipping.

Interesting but just don't follow the argument the AD is suggesting here. How does slowing down production reduce flipping? I would think it would have the opposite effect because by squeezing supply people are inclined to pay even more, which makes flipping even more attractive to people who get hold of them.

I'm also generally skeptical that Rolex monitors flipping (how on earth can it with any degree of accuracy) or even really care about it...

Completely agree with you. The AD wasn't suggesting anything, he just told me the exact conversation he had with rep, same conversation that previous poster said with his AD.....

Why do people find it so unbelievable that someone who may be well connected in the watch world acquired 2 new 500's ? Not that extraordinary actually.

Good for him. Lots of jealous cynics here. When the BLNR first came out and everyone was salivating over it and complaining about short supply, I called Mayors in Miami, drove down there and two hours later it was on my wrist. I was not on any VIP list nor a big spender. Right place, right time.

Ordered 5 Daytonas --- so you can sell to your friends.

Either, you are really cool and doing them a favor, which hopefully they asked before you ordered to get them one.

Or you are taking a very different approach, and profit across each of those Daytonas yields you a free one.

Either way, it's not cool to start a thread saying how they are easier than you expected when many of us are waiting, some possibly for years, and bragging how you ordered FIVE. One of those could be mine dude! Now I don't have as much cred here as you, but regardless, you could have come at it from very different approach, and gained more cred than you have.

Why don't you sell them to the good folks on here at list, especially if your friends didn't preorder through you?

Bruno's info is rock solid and he is a great member of this forum. He also knows many watch dealers, collectors, and ADs which gives him access to acquiring these pieces that the average joe would not receive.

They were so douchey about it. I'm happy everyone who wants one will get to have one and their little club won't be as limited as they thought.

For what it's worth....

I'm not a high-volume client. In fact, I've never purchased anything from the AD here in Guam.

However, two months after Basel (in late May -- and on a whim), I called the local AD and added my name to the list. I received the call this past July and wa-lah -- at retail w/ no sales tax!

will do! At first sight I THINK I prefer the white but I have not seen the black yet. Talking about the previous Daytona, the 116520 I really preferred the white. On the other hand the new one with black dial AND bezel ... it might be a better combo with the black bezel. The watch might look bigger and that I something I like :-)

Really doing them a favor, thats imo the most important thing in this watch world. You should know that I even didn't know these guys 15 years ago. We all became friends because of these watches. Back In 2000 or so the paneristi.com website started and that website and/or brand brought me in contact with some guys that live pretty close to me. Back in 2000 those internet sites changed a lot. Before these internet sites I sometimes thought I was the only moron to buy these watches LOL. But that changed when we organised the first meetings. In these 15 years some of these guys became very close friends. Even best friends. Now we see and hear each other very often and share a big part of our lives ... We make trips to meetings, Geneva, or other watch related things

In the first months this site started I registered. You know, in fact it started on another forum called 'newturfers'. Things went wrong on that site and some of the guys from newturfers started rolexforums.com. I believe it was JJ Irani that mailed me and told me about this site.

Anyway, today my best friends are people I met for the first time 15 years and even a bit longer ago. I really know what kind of watches they like.... we talk about watches all the time LOL

So the first second Basel opened I just knew I could do them a favor getting them those new Daytona's. So I made some calls

My intention was NOT to brag that I could get 5 of them pretty easy ... 2 of them were ordered at MY AD where I also bought some Patek ... I know that AD very well so I was sure I would get the first one.
BUT I also ordered from AD that do not know me very well and where I am NOT a good client ... and this is why I made that post.
If I can get them from AD that do not know me very well I believed they were not that hard to get. ..... I made the post to inform people so they don't have to believe the shit Hodinkee told about the 20K watch ... I don't want to feed the flippers.
May be after all they are not that hard to get so have some patience and do NOT pay a silly premium. Didn't say they are widely available neither. But waiting 6 months or 12 months is not 5 years. I've waited more than 12 months for some Patek, glad I never paid a premium

As I answered in the quote above ... I also got them from AD without having a good connection with them.

I must confess I ordered the Daytona's pretty fast after Basel ... I don't know when I would get one if I order one today.
But please believe me, one day the hype is over. At that time the premium will be gone and the waiting list will be gone too. There are A LOT of flippers one these lists and once the secondhand value will be the same or even under list price they will be gone and waiting lists will be a thing of the past.
You know the first deepsea also sold with a huge premium ? Today you'll find them in every shop. Same with the Green Milgauss, even long ago the first Yachtmaster.
But today production is much higher and the watch business is in trouble. So I am pretty sure supply will meet demand pretty fast ( not like in 2000 when it took indeed several years to get a 116520, that was also very hot when it replaced the 16520)

You are very lucky because from my own personal experience, it has been very hard to get. I have seen both of them in the flesh but they were already spoken for. I paid my AD $2,500 for a deposit in March and I have not received a call for my white Daytona and I have a friend who has paid in full $12,400 who has not received his watch. I hope what you are saying comes true but I don't see it happening here in the US anytime soon. I think I'll be lucky to get my watch by Christmas 2016.
