Any Rolex of your choosing for afterhours and recreation. Lawyers and RE agents sporting Rolexes in the workplace (or while with clients) can sometimes send out the wrong message (i.e. parasite, opportunist, and suspicions of overbilling). Best to stick with something a bit more low-key and it doesn't have to be anything cheap, just less recognizable.

When/if you become a successful criminal (or divorce attorney) then you can pull out that 18K President and take 'em all to the cleaners. That comes with the territory.

I'm a soon-to-be young lawyer (one more year of law school left) and I'm in the same position. However, be aware that no one notices your watch. Seriously, the vast majority of people don''t care about watches an thus wouldn't think to look at one's watch. Even if they do see your watch, there are enough people wearing gold plated Nixon watches (or similar) that anyone looking at your watch won't know or care what you're wearing. Worst case scenario, a prospective client sees a 25 year old with a full gold sub and thinks it was a gift from a parent or grandparent. Don't over think this. But also don't shove the watch in the partner's/client's faces. I have a no date subc but I'm considering getting the TT bluesey at the end of this summer/when I secure my full time job. Get whatever you like.

I'd say it depends a bit on the type of law you practice, and your clientele.
Some choices are better suited for ambulance chasing or criminal misconduct, others more for Trusts, Torts and Finance.

All things equal, I'll take my lawyers in Brooks brothers suits and a simple gold Patek, Vacheron, Cartier or the like. Always on a strap, of course. Did I mention the wood panelling and rich leather chairs? Conservative and stodgy wins my vote.

I'm a retired attorney, and didn't buy my first Rolex until post-retirement. I think something understatedly classy (or classily understated) on a strap looks best in a professional environment, like a Patek or JLC, plus many cuffs (especially French cuffs) don't accommodate some of the bigger "tool" watches.

If your grail is an all gold sub, in the meantime, get a SS subC & see how that flow daily. Imho, any Rolex is a winner.

If you have to go on a watch forum and inquire what accessory you should purchase, not certain I would want you representing me in any litigation.

You need to ask one of the young lawyers on the Forum like Steve.

Going for Rolex Datejust 36 or 41 depending on wrist size.
Or JLC for something on a strap.
But I'd first see what your new colleagues are wearing then go from there.

I must agree with you Sir that the young budding lawyer is certainly lacking in self confidence. He already has posted 8 consecutive threads on the Sub(-ject) matter alone.

Hi,
from the above I voted Batman, but you're not a pilot.
You're a lawyer. Sooooooo, I think Datejust would be a better option
Anyway wear it in good health.

Best watch for a young lawyer?

I can't see the poll on Tapatalk. Regardless, I'd recommend a datejust (36 or 41) or a GMTc (LN or BLNR). There's no wrong answer here.
For me, whenever I'm uncomfortable with people seeing my watch I just hide it under my cuffs.
And yeah... By all means, please get a nicely fitted suit with MTM shirts (plenty of reasonably priced options out there).

He is only 18 so has a few years to go before choosing a model.

That model could have been discontinued by then.

This is very well put and should be read again. It all makes sense.

So to answer our young aspiring lawyers question - buy a bloody big solid gold monstrosity and advertise your wealth as a symbol of your success. People like successful lawyers.

Hilarious!

That should go over very well, especially in Canada
