I am in the do not trade camp... your two watches should be worth more than the MSRP of the DaytonaC.

How original are the Speedy and 1680?

I'd jump on an opportunity to buy a daytonaC at msrp. I wouldn't trade vintage gems such as yours for it though. Especially at the DaytonaC's current inflated price. You'll regret losing those beauties me thinks.

No way would I make that trade. Pick up a Daytona C in due course but you'd have a job replacing those vintage pieces, which are only going up in value.

But realistically if there is no connection to it, what is the increase going to really achieve in the end? A watch that's a few k more expensive in 3-5 years that still sits there? Vs if he wears the daytona all the time while the others were sitting, I'd say it was worth the money.

I wouldn't. Save up and wait for the Daytona.

Pass. The Daytona is being pushed at prices over MSRP, not real value. I would hang on to those two and wait it out.

Fair point, but it doesn't seem an even trade. My suggestion would be to sit on them a little more - see if he falls in love with them again and if not, by then hopefully prices will have come down to make it a more even trade.

How many of us flip a watch only to buy it back again? These two would be harder to acquire if that happened...

Unless there is a sentimental value with either piece you own, I'd personally trade in a heartbeat.

DaytonaC trade proposition

Thanks for all of the feedback gents. I was actually surprised how polarizing the decision was. Ultimately I weighed my options and decided to move forward today:

No regrets

Seems like the friend of your friend kept the stickers for 3 weeks on! Congrats, if you're happy that's what matters

I know!! I don't even think the guy wore it twice. Warranty card was dated aug 25th. Ended up peeling the rest off as I kept staring at it the rest of the day. I'm ecstatic about this piece, Plus I feel good that my vintage watches went to a great home

Bad trade financially....Pre Moon Omegas are getting hot and vintage subs are becoming rarer...you will get your shot at the Daytona C

One of you did a great deal.

Well as long as you're happy, that's what matters.
