Excellent!

My firm's "JDG" & the first plate I bought for my Volvo was V70 JDG (now sold) but I still have L200 JDG (sold the pick up it was on so stuck it on a van for now) & my plate BO55 JDG.

What I'd really like though is B16 DAN. (BIG DAN).

Jinder is referring to Canadian dollars, but the Canadian dollar and the US dollar have been at par for quite a while now, so $51K Canadian = $51K USD for a car that retails for $35K USD in the US. Yes, as incredible as that may seem, we do get HOSED for prices on everything up here, then add an additional 13% tax. n:

When I was in university, I wore $1500 hand made Italian shoes, and drove a $500 92 dodge caravan! My current cars (Lotus Exige s240, and 1940 Ford coupe), are both worth more than my sub tho.

Funny thing is I used to be really into cars.

Now watches are turning me on. Thinking of adding 116610LV.

Not wanting or needing anymore cars.

I love watches and it's my passion at the moment. However, sometimes I take a step back and I have to wonder how ridiculous I am if I pay more for my watch than my car.

I mean think about the size, functionality, and heft of a car, not to mention the amount of materials needed to create it. Yet it costs less than my watch? Eh.. practicality faux pas.

Some folks can have it all. More power to them.

Some people have to budget their money to own the nice things that they have.

There are people who own fancy cars and live in humble abodes and wear Timex watches.

There are people who love to hunt and have all the finest accouterments thereunto and drive 15 year old pickup trucks and live in shanties.

There are those of us who like fine watches and forgo other luxuries to indulge our passions.

I think that among those who have passions for finer material objects, those who make sacrifices in other areas to afford those items far exceed those for whom the finer things in life are mere baubles relative to their lifestyles as a whole.

+1!!! I drive an '02 GS430 and love it. Bought it new in '02 and just see no reason to part with it, since I spend a great deal of time driving for my job and it is virtually trouble-free, comfortable and has plenty of get-up-and-go for my needs. When i bought the Lexus it was worth much more than my Rolex (and gas was much cheaper too!). Now, I have a few additional Rolexes & Omegas, so the watches now exceed the value of my ride. Although the GS430 drinks a fair amount of premium gas, as my wife constantly reminds me as she zips around in her Honda...! I'll still choose the GS and my GMTIIC if we're driving any serious highway miles though

For those who have $$ invested in cars, unless they are vintage cars, your money is headed one way: DOWN.

Give it about 10yrs and your watches' value will over take your clunkers.

Ben, actually, its a really nice low milage 1999 corolla. it is such a great car; too bad its unimpressive and small inside. i paid 3000 for it a couple of years ago. i did pay 4700 for my 2005 sea dweller, so there is a mismatch here. i paid another 2k for a nice tudor sub recently. i just cant seem to get myself to sell the corolla and inherit a $600 monthy payment for the subaru i want. odd choices to some, but i am happy with them.

Got to think safety ... I have lots of highway driving on a daily basis. I drive the best car my budget can afford while being reasonable. For me, the bmw 3 series (leased 335) hits that balance. Leasing removes all thoughts about depreciation, etc. I like it that way. No surprises.

My Rolex watches and cars are closely matched. 14 Rolex to 10 cars. Yes, new cars will depreciate like a new Rolex, but if you own classics, they will definitely hold their value. My BMW M5 dropped like a rock from new, so goes for any new Rolex. My older classic Porsches hold their value, just like my Zenith Daytonas & LVs.
