I work out Mon- Fri and I leave the watch at home...safest place for it as I have read too many horror stories of watches getting stolen out of lockers. Plus, I usually where wrist supports when lifting so it would get in the way.

A Rolex is not a tool watch. It's jewelry. And even a Tudor will get crushed, let alone, dinged up if you work out with any real intensity.

No. I do mostly weights and they would severely damage the watch.

If you can wear a rolex at the gym you're not working out hard enough.

I wear mine to the gym, but my biggest fear is something else...bracelet stretch. Even with 904L steel, I do worry about stretching the bracelet. Thoughts?

Already been mentioned but the amount of women farting around in the gym in full make-up does my head in, too.

I go to the gym to train, not pose.

Bracelet stretch comes from wear on the connecting point in the links generally caused by grit and motion not by flexing muscles.

When I got my Explorer I didn't think twice about wearing it in the gym. I don't go there to judge or be judged. Some people here are overthinking this... it's a watch over-designed to survive in harsh conditions: were not talking about the Crown Jewels here! In three years of wearing my Rolex to the gym 3 or 4 times a week no one has commented & it's never been dinged by anything! And I am not 'posing' to be noticed by anyone; I go to the gym because as I get older it seems like the best way to stay healthy. I like to keep my body under control & so I don't go smashing into the weights, thus my watch doesn't smash into weights either.

It's a watch...

Umm...There's motion present when working out? And I do feel stress on the bracelet when doing certain exercises, like arm curls, so...

I wear a Rolex at the gym if I go there direct from the work. If I go to the gym from home I leave a Rolex at home and put a cheap watch on my wrist in order to measure the rest between the sets.

An Icewatch with a nice orange sec hand so I can time the 30-45 or 60 sec rest intervals.
Completely useless is a Rolex in the gym.....the chance to bang it into equipment is really great especially if you get tired....(that is IF you get tired....lol).

I myself am so focussed that I hardly notice people around me...it is just workout time...no see and be seen.

The Icewatch is a steady companion in my workout bag...the Rolex I put that in a leather container in my briefcase in the car when I go training straight from work.

To some it's not showing off. It's a nice watch they bought and they just wear it.

I don't think they look into it anymore than that. They probably don't have plastic on their sofa either. It's just a watch.
