VW unveils muscle Passat

Check this out... the R36 Passat... 4Motion, 300hp from their 3.6l motor, lowered, 18" rims, body kit, redone interior, zero to 100km/hr in 5.6 seconds for the sedan... Inside and out, I LOVE this car!

Yes must say it looks quite fast and aggressive looking front end.And now IMHO VW and Audi are now taking BMW crown especially in the style department

Maybe that body style, but likely not the R series. And not for a while. I don't buy brand new and my Passat only has 110,000km on it and with a pending change at work, I could be looking to cut my commute by two-thirds, which means fewer annual kilometers.

However, when I win the lottery, that bad boy is near on the top of my list of things to acquire. But not in that blue... Either the VeeDubber navy blue or black with smoked out windows.

Always been a VW fan

Owned pretty much every type of recent VW except the Bug...Dissapointed when we (Canada) lost out on the R32 Golf...there cars are a little underpowered for some reason out of the factory...but a quick engine remap puts them where they should be.
Wish the new GTI was out before I purchased my car, like you John...going to have to wait until the lease is up...and a couple of performance bonuses..LOL

I hope to see those coming to Canada...it looks like a beast!!!

It does indeed! The new 2.0 turbo four puts out 200hp out of the box. So with a chip you can up the ponies to about 250, and with a bigger intercooler, you're up to about 300hp. Get some lower springs and koni shocks, bigger rims and you'll beat that R36 cuz you're not weighed down with all that 4motion gear.

I'd take a stealthy mod route to that territory before going OEM R36, although that interior is totally awesome! VW and Audi are no question making the best designed and quality interiors out there these days.

Ugh, not to be a dissenter but it is a VW which means no styling and lots of time in the shop due to hard headed over-engineering . Trust me,I know.

Well, it's not for everyone, but nothing can ever be 'over-engineered'. As for styling, again, it's a personal matter, but VeeDubbers can't be mistaken for anything but a VW on the road, unlike most generic Japanese cars.

My Passat is 6 years old and it's been the cheapest car to maintain that I've ever owned.

Don't get me wrong--VW is clearly a better styled car than an Asian car--almost anything is and I own 2 06 and 1 07 Hondas that my wife and kids drive. Believe me as an attorney who has defended many auto cases, cars can be over-engineered.

People have a love-hate relationship with VWs and many are very passionate about the cars which is great. It is a well run company unlike many in the US.

"Over-engineered" is an oxymoron, something along the lines of "honest lawyer."

My first car was a Passat. Of course they've changed a bit since then.
Damn if only I was born 25 years later I'd be driving this baby.

I could buy one, but don't need to because I know "honest lawyer" won't be in it, as there isn't such a thing.......

And besides, us engineerz iz notorious for ours bad writin' skillz.....so why would I want to break the sterotype?
