Our "new" W&D Rolex

This is a 9k Gold W&D Rolex Wristlet. It has an aftermarket bracelet (9k to match the watch).

The original watch strap would have been a ribbon type strap.

My partner wears this daily.....and it gains approx. 6 mins per day.

Hard to fully estimate the age, but we believe somewhere around the late 1910s to early 1920s.

Hi. If you post pictures of the inside of the backs and movements of these watches I'll let you know the ages. GB Hallmarks were usually London (England) or Glasgow (Scotland). Tylden.

I shall upload some photos, but they may not be clear enough for you.

I do not have a loupe, but as best I can tell with the naked eye the inside of the caseback says (from top to bottom):
ROLEX
R (in a circle), an arrow which has an impression within (but I cannot determine what is says/shows), a two digit number that may be "58" or "56".
W&D
801405
SWISS

On the movement, the only discernable writing is:
ROLEX 15 JEWELS
SWISS MADE

There is also some kind of design which is partially covered over. By the markings I assume it is some form of measurement gauge

Any jeweller should be able to tell by the hallmark stamp when the watch case was imported into England. The movement was probably installed not long thereafter.

I wish that more very early pieces were shown.

To have a time piece working for longer than most of us have been alive....well to me that is a very special thing. It is a privilege to keep a piece of history alive.

Yes, Patty loves to wear it....and she often receives compliments and questions about the watch.

Strange to me, but many of the teenagers around (Patty works in Youth Services) really take a shine to the wristlet.

Hopefully a new generation to wonder at technology of a time past.
