I tried the FP of the same look/model but it's significantly shorter and harder to handle.

As for the price of Christie - For the FP, if one can find a naked (i.e. no box no paper) mint condition (i.e. the dent/scratches are not visible by visual examination, but they show on loupe examination), fair price is approx USD1100-1300, depending on your luck. After I posted this morning, I did a quick Google search, and found the sets in the $4.5K-$5K range...and nearly passed out.

Richard posted a few weeks ago about the Christie MP he picked up, and that seems like a score, as he stated he'd been searching for quite a while.

Who knows...maybe I'll begin the search. Pens are certainly cheaper than watches (or at least the pens I'm looking at

).

Also note that since US dollar has dropped so much, the European dealers are holding onto their euro pricing. That also contributes to the pricing disparity. If you look for US only ebay sales, they are generally cheaper.

The feel of a pen is very important. There are lots of great 'feeling' fountain pens around so if you don't feel happy with the Boheme FP then there are lots more options. e.g. MB 149 with an O3B nib
