Value Rolex Precision circa 1960's?

Hello all,
My dad recently passed to me his vintage Rolex Precision. Apparently, when he was in the Navy, around the 1960's, he and his buddies decided to have a friendly poker game aboard the ship. Well, when one of the guys decided he had better cards than my dad, he decided to go all in, along with his watch....of course, he lost. Finally after all these years, he felt it was time to pass on to his son. Now, I find myself with this timepiece, not really knowing too much about value or be it history, besides that of my dads poker win....I know that he has had some kind of tune up and cleaning, but to the extent...I'm not sure. Any help as to the estimated value or history would be much appreciated! Besides "Rolex Precision" on the face, the back has an stamped Rolex logo (hard to see in the photo) as well as the number "171642" stamped as well. Also any reputable places here in L.A. I could take it too?

Thanks!
CAINLA

I have one exactly like yours... it was purchased by my parents for my grandfather in Hong Kong in 1960. As I have never entertained selling mine, I have no idea of the value but would guess at something less than $1000. As an aside I sold my two tone 1959 Oyster Precision w/ a unique orig dial earlier this year for $1200.

...Roger

I don't think that I would get my hopes up to high on your heirloom....

Perhaps it's best to hang onto it as part of your dad's legacy.........

rpmooreii,

Thanks for your fast reply, as a matter of fact, my dad mentioned they had just set port in Hong Kong, the day before...so it makes perfect sense that maybe the guy had just purchased it...appreciate your help!
