No scratches but very sandy from last week's trip to the desert.
Would you believe the sand under the bezel is not visible by the naked eye and I do not wear classes and my attention to detail is high. Apparently the sensor on the 22mp camera has higher attention to detail haha.

Nice pix.

A bit more DOF should be available with that level of equipment?

You mean more out of focus or less?

DoF is created by focal length, aperture and distance. My focal length is 150mm, so that is fixed, the only variables that remain are distance and aperture.

Are you suggesting the Dof is thin or wide?

You certainly have the equipment.
I think you could try to shut down your aperture and increase your exposure time. This should give you a greater 'depth of the field' in focus.
You have F8 on that lens. Try some shots at that setting. Focus point is important, can you use it in manual at a central point? You will need good outdoor natural light and probably timer release on a tripod for a longer exposure.
Just my 2c.

These were taken with my P & S Sony N2. F 8 - 1/500s - ISO 160 - hand held.

eddie, great tips thanks. I did not close the aperture too much as I was hand holding the camera and lens (pretty long/heavy lens). In the shots where the Dof is almost nonexistent, well I was playing around with the shallow DoF and the creamy bokeh from the Sigma so kinda intentional.
Plus as the sun was setting, I didnt have time to get the tripod out. I wanted to quickly post some acceptable shots of the watch + strap as I had been meaning to.

Next time ill break out the tripod and shutter release and stop it down to about f/13 so everything is in focus. Ill also use the polarizer so there is no reflection on the sapphire.

You have some great shots from a PnS

With that lens at F13 you might see some softening of the overall focus crispness. Or so some have said.
I could see the shot where you had no DOF.
I am looking forward to seeing more of your pix.

Here are a few of a Pam 231 taken through the eyepiece of my stereo zoom microscope while playing around.

IMO, even with 'no depth of field' if the field is in focus then 'something' in the picture would also be in focus.
In your 4th pix the DoF could be as little as 0.5mm and that is a great skill if you want to highlight a specific area.

Yeah, ok, I'll go with shallow.
