Rolex ADs in major airports?
Just spied a thread about a purchase in an airport.
Thought the topic merited a separate thread to focus on the concept / not a particular great deal... Aside from Heathrow, do folks know of airports with Rolex dealers selling duty free? Seems a nice way to buy a nice watch. A buddy bought an Omega Seamaster this way - on a cruise - and got a good deal. |

My dad bought his Seamaster at the Duty Freeshop, it was a descent deal. On the way back from Mexico, the Duty free shop included Hublot, Cartier, Omega, Audemars Piguet, Montblanc, Tag, Longines, Etc.

I'm wondering Masugu if buying with a discount with duty (taxes) at a local AD would be better and more convenient that buying without a discount and without duty?
I guess it all depends on the discount but I'm thinking these airports don't discount much. In fact, I'm guessing most experiences are similar to the one you had recently in Vegas. ![]() |

Now that I think about it, I think the best bet is buying at a local AD, getting a discount, and shipping it to "your other home in another state" so you don't have to pay state sales tax.
I know you can also buy one here on TRF too. ![]() ![]() |

I was recently in the Amsterdam airport. Very nice lady at the Rolex counter. She knew all about TRF and Jake's blog. She was actually one of the most knowledgeable AD's I've ever been too. Yes, at the AIRPORT!

In Australia, maybe same for the USA, if you buy local and take it out of the country you can get duty free. We bought our digital camera this way. Got a good deal from a local store (not duty free retailer). Took the receipt to the airport and got the 10% back. So it may be more cost effective to buy local, try to do a deal for a discount and then get the tax back at the airport on top. But dont tell the store your buying at that your doing this, or they will try to factor the tax break into their deal with you.

Bill...As far as know, other than Heathrow and now Amsterdam,Dubai in UAE has one at the airport!!! Omegas are found at almost every airport......
I'm not sure if they can be swayed on prices (probably)but they are going to save you the taxes.... Personaly,if you can do better than 10% at your local AD then your already ahead of the DF store!!!! ![]() ![]()

The airport in Nice, France has ADs on both terminals, you can get any watch (inc ROLEX) duty free if you are flying out of EU.
But you can also buy local and get the tax refunded at the airport if you are flying out if the EU. And the tax is a whooping 19%. Last time I looked the had a nice selection, all kind of subs, DDs, DJs etcetc. ![]()

If you are buying from an AD and it's duty free...seems like a no brainer to me. If I buy here from an AD...add 400.00 tax on a Sub that costs 6000.00. No tax is nice

Hmm
ok so no free lunch.... I think a decent discount + out if state shipping to save tax may be the best US AD deal . I am going to try an AD in Milwaukee, WI. Perhaps they are nicer and cheaper there than in a big / well touristed US city. |

None in Mexico. As Kyle mentioned, pretty much every other brand (Omega and Cartier boutiques, Hublot, GP, Longines, Montblanc, Graham, etc.) but no Rolex.

I've been to this one in the Amsterdam airport and if I recall correctly, it is a Rolex only shop. Not sure if that is company sponsored or not. They were duty free, but the prices were in line with US ADs.
