Wish me luck friends... sent an email to the seller
I just emailed a seller some followup questions and asked him to hold the watch but cancelled the on hold because I got another offer (yes I did edit my original post here). I am still interested in this one as I have no idea if the other one will come through.
I found a great condition P series 14060M no-date Sub for just over $3000USD. Box papers and the seller says even the receipt. The guy is on another forum and appears to have posted and sold quite a few watches this year. About half a dozen. Last one was sold before the seller got my email... I think $3000 for a P Series is a fair deal with all that's included. What do you think? |

MIC6... totally inappropriate comment....
Hey MIC6, that was a totally inappropriate one word comment. Without explaining yourself, or offering some HELPFUL advice it makes you look more like a troll than someone looking to offer a useful well thought out opinion.
I think I saw the posting and photos for the watch in question as I am looking for one in the near future and have been watching whats available in the 14060 sub market. Given the condition of the watch, complete with all books, papers and boxes and even a reciept, I think its a fair price. Had I not purchased a GMT 16700 and a 16713 llast month I would have considered that same P series 14060 myself. anonymousmoose: excellent , "classic" choice for a first Rolex. I think a fair price. I have seen 14060's lower than that but they are in well "worn" condition and without any provanance (papers/books/boxes etc...). The watch you are making an offer on is in cosmetically excellent condition, you are buying from an original owner with all books, papers, boxes AND the original reciept showing the watch, purchased in 2001 is EIGHT years old. The seller is willing to eat the paypal fees and internation , insuured shipping to Australia is worth +/- $125.00 alone SJF Last edited by Newportkrieger; 17 December 2009 at 12:53 AM.. LOL the funny thing is that a member on this forum just PM's me. He has a Z Serial for about the same price. Even better... funny how you look and look and then they pour in.
I will consider both offers. For me its a) reputation of seller b) condition of watch c) accessories (box, papers etc) |

IMHO 2700 usd would be a fair price for a nine year old ND sub

Thing is that I am always comparing prices here in Australia. A pre-owned no-date sub here, up to 10 years old can go for $4900AU/$4400US from a dealer. If I get a Sub for $3000US/$3330AU plus pay import tax of another $300 I would still get it for a better price then I can buy here. Saying that I will want the best deal.
Here are the pics on the one on offer: |

Strange thing always occurs after you buy a watch,
you come across a better deal! Keep shopping (3000USD sounds reasonable), but there is 'gold' out there to be found! |

I think the $3000 price is fair..
As I noted above..
1) The watch is in excellent condition. It even has caseback green sticker still on it! 2) All papers/books/boxes and original purchase reciept for 2001 purchase making it an 8 yr old watch. 3) Inclusive of paypal fees is worth approx. $80 or more 4) Inclusuve shipping from USA to your home in Australia with full insurance is worth another $125 or more. ITS A GOOD DEAL when you look at what you are getting...and in view of the above you are paying aprox. $2800 for the watch itself. Last edited by Newportkrieger; 17 December 2009 at 12:38 AM.. It's a pretty old one, but still. I know of a couple of secondhand dealers in Sydney if you want the URLs?

as far as im concerned, it doesnt matter how long you have been here and/or how many posts you have made (whether it has been informative or not is a different story altogether....), we are all in here to enjoy and helping fellow TRF members out. imho - a simple "expensive" without any backup or advice can be viewed as being unhelpful. not picking on you mic6, but im sure you have been here long enough to know that. lets move on and help the OP achieve his dream on getting his first Rolex |

Good luck. I know what it is like to get so close to getting a Rolex and having SOMETHING derail the plans.
I have been trying for about 15 years. I have had things go wrong and major medical expenses and other bills stop me. Im looking to get my first Rolex here in the next two weeks. Now my wife's car gave up. It is a 1995 after all. She drives for her living. She does private home health care cases and puts about 50K a year on her cars, sometimes more. She makes much more than I do as Im going back to school next month to finish my degree and I only work part time these days. Her car is the most important thing. Without it, she cant work, earn a living, and I cant afford to only work part time, raise a son AND go to school at the same time. Life is full of hurdles. It will make my Rolex that much more special once I acquire it. Hang in there, if this deal doesnt work out for you, there WILL be others. Be patient and good luck again. |

Bottom line a fair deal is 1 both the seller and the buyer are happy with.Every buyer wants the absolute lowest price and ever seller want the absolute highest price they can get.
A fair deal is 1 your happy with. If the buyer can find cheaper better somewhere else he will and if the seller can sell it somewhere else for more money he will. This is how it is and the rest is just talk.

The price is fair overall.... not great, not terrible. If you are happy with it that's all that matters.
Congrats. |

If it were me, I would bring up the age again and wether it has had a recent "Overhaul" service, this is a very important selling point; ask if its been serviced, if not, you can do better on the price by several hundred USDs !
Thanks, Randy

When was it last serviced?
What kinda shipping costs are you going to have? What kind of duty or import taxes? Id much rather buy in country and pay a bit more to avoid the headaches, costs and risks of overseas shipping.

Its a lot better than paying $400-500 a month for a car payment like a lot of people. We buy older cars from old people and drive them until they die. We paid $1900 for this one, from a 74 year old lady who took it away from her grandson and no longer had a license. You can buy some very nice cars, with everything working, for great prices these days. I cant see making a car payment. They drop like lead balloons in value, and you still have to do all the usual stuff to them as things wear out along the way. |

There's two things wrong with this thread..
First....... It seems to have evolved into a competition on who can e-mail the best price on a watch.. TRF isn't a personal shopping service; if you want a WTB ad, put it in the right forum.. Second... If there are inappropriate comments... report the post.. Attacking other members will land you in the dog-house faster than anything around here.. Padlock.jpg
