Is My Rolex Defective?

Hi all. I have a new (3wk old) Air King. I don't wear it everyday, probably 4 times since I got it. I gave it 40 turns yesterday night, put in a box and looked at it today (about 27 hours later) and it was stopped. I gave it a little shake and the second hand beagan moving again. A bunch of ppl on the forum said the reserve power on this model is about 40hrs. Does this sound right? Or like a defective piece because it barely lasts 27 hrs without wearing it, especially after 40 turns a day earlier? Since I don't wear it daily(i don't work for the government, but I do work with infants and toddlers & they would destroy this baby) do I need to wind it daily then?

Don't sweat it, Your watch is fine. I feel certain that your power reserve is fine. If you don't wear your watch daily, it has a tendency to run-down. I would imagine that your 40 turns was not adequate to fully wind the watch.

I wouldn't worry about winding it at all. Just pick it up and set it when you are going to wear it (I never wind mine when they are stopped. I just pick it up and put it on my wrist for a minute or two. When it starts to run, I hack the second hand and set the time. I put it on and let my wrist do the winding throughout the day), and wear it a little more often!!! Enjoy your new watch!!

Good advice Jason. I think the watch is fine.

I would fully wind it and wear it (make 100% sure that it is fully wound) and then set it down and re-test the power reserve, just to make sure.

Even with a new Rolex, if you gave it 40 turns it should last more than 27 hrs but your 'turns' might not be my 'turns'. Wind it some more and see how it goes.

I would wind it 40-50 times then shake it a bit, and then compare with your previous results.

40 FULL turns should do it.

Do you think you did 40 half turns (20 full turns)?
