Any suggestions for a cheap pre-owned (£1000ish) alternative?

Hi all,

I really fancy getting a cheap-ish alternative to my very much loved TT Sub. Would look from about £600-£1300. I am thinking of pre-owned only for value for money reasons and have no objection to any age.

I have looked at both the older 80's datejusts and also non-Rolex brands.

I would quite like something on leather strap. I really liked the Tag Carrera but was just too light in weight for me. I'm also not a massive fan of the Omega Speedmaster or Sea Master.

Any suggestions with pics greatly appreciated.

James.

How about a Doxa?

Hi,

Got a few brands and the Doxa range of dive watches are great! In your price range and alternate straps to the bracelet are available (although I don't use them). Great history also. They co-pioneered the HEV with Rolex and apparently beat Rolex to markert with a commercial version (the Doxa Conquistador was available to the public before the Rolex Sea Dweller. Can get the Doxa Sub range with the orange (like mine), silver, yellow or black dials. Worth a look. Have ETA movements.

Here's my Doxa with a couple of friends!!

Andy

A Datejust Bi Metal(case) with an aftermarket leather strap would fit the bill and not be too expensive, I have often seen these on flea-bay in the sub £900 region.

Yeah thats what I looked at as I like the YG and the after market strap on a watch at that level doesnt really bother me.

Maybe a Tudor sub is another alternative, they regularly clock in at under a grand.

Nothing wrong with Seiko tough reliable bullet proof automatic movements.Or one of Eddie Platts range of watches from Timefactors. I real great guy to deal with with some fantastic watches he designed at very good prices.
