President
Just curious to know, since I am about to purchase a 2007 series YG president, how many of you wear this watch as a daily watch? Is it to "showy"
Thanks Peter |

I would say that any solid gold watch would definitely draw glances from people, whether wanted or not. Especially one as recognizable as the President.

I wear one 5 days of more a week. I actually get very few comments or "looks".

I think it's actually understated compared to some pieces out there now. Go for it, it's a beauty.

I wear my gold datejust w/ more dressy attire.....it's not a daily watch, I wear it 2-3 times a week when I wear suit & tie for biz & social affairs that are dressy. I personally like YG & I don't think it's showy. I've seen guys here in L.A. wear YG pres. w/ torn jeans!
Not my look but it's a free country. |

As long as it's not iced out, I don't think it's "showy".
If you dress nicely, it rather compliments your attire! I wear sleeves most of the time, so no beacon on my arm....

Setting
I think it depends on the setting you find yourself in most of the time while wearing the watch. Business setting, casual with frinds that don't wear expensive jewelry, or in a counrty club stetting where a lot of people like to show off their material items. What makes you comfortable is the question.

i think the 'getting glances' is entirely dependent on your lifestyle and your social circles. but i think in general, having a yellow gold object wrapped around my wrist (despite its small size) would easily draw attention. of course, gold used to be much more common on men of older/previous generations. i think younger people such as myself (almost thirty) are much less attracted to gold for social attire. this is true with many females, too. there is more interest in other precious metals, rocks, and gems.

I appreciate everyones input.. I am 55 and not a showy person, but I love the way the watch looks, as well as being a resonable buy from an AD

If you like it then do it. Ultimately it's personal preference. They definately are noticable.

I wore one for about a year every day without a single comment. Of course, I also live in the woods in Maine and my nearest neighbor is a mile away...

Welcome to TRF. Well, I guess a lot would depend on the nature of your job and the kind of work you do.......and also how safe your environment is. If it's a regular collar & tie job, I'd wear it every day.......and, of course, assuming you are in a safe place. JJ

I used to seldom wear it - because of the 'too showy' reason, but I put mine on a leather strap, and now wear it a lot more. If the presidential bracelet is a major part of the attraction of this watch for you, this would not work.
This pic may help show what I mean:

It might be a concern if your arms aren't in very good shape...that's a lot of weight!!

Part of it depends on what you wear to work. If you wear Dockers and a polo-style shirt every day (e.g. short sleeve, semi-casual look), then a gold Rolex President would obviously stand out more than if you wore a business suit. I have a couple of male colleagues who wear a gold President, but they wear suits. Honestly, I notice their watches (because I'm a WIS) but the watches aren't "flashy" in any regard.
I guess the more casually you dress, the more your watch would stand out. |

I wear a platinum president every day. Only when I'm going to the gym or planning to do something where I might damage the watch do I not wear it.
It doesn't seem to draw undue attention at all. Office wear here is jeans and a short sleeve shirt, no ties, no suits. (software business). A gold one may draw more attention, but I doubt it. Most people don't notice watches much, unless they are remarkably unusual. I think a green-dial, yellow gold GMT would stick out a lot more. |

Lots of people wear Gold coloured watches......to the untrained eye and the non WIS person a DD in YG is just another one......I honestly think they do not draw as much attention as some folk think.....I wear mine a lot, I only have two rules, it never ever goes into the garage where there are tools and lots of very hard things to bang it on and it's never on my wrist when I am cycling....other than that I wear it....very very few people have ever commented......buy one, wear it with pride would be my advice.....

Wear it everday. You'd be surprised how few people notice these things.

Diamond 18k presidential
I wear my presidential 18k diamond watch everyday. It definitely is very gaudy for a college student, but what the hell, I love wearing it. It is very ostentatious compared to my last watch (18k YG GMT Master). It makes a statement, wear it. Don't just let it sit in a safety deposit box
