Traveling with several watches

We're getting bored with the Kansas winter. We're headed for Honolulu for a week. The wife and I are both planning on bringing two watches this time. Other than wearing one on each wrist, how is the best way to carry, or pack the spares without getting them lost, stolen or damaged at the airports when changing planes?

One on the wrist; one on the ankle?

In all seriousness, I wouldn't put them in checked baggage. Most airlines limit baggage liability to like $1000 per bag, and good luck getting that much. Times I've traveled with a spare, I always put it in the carry-on or buttoned jacket pocket.

i usually wear one and pack the other one in a travel pouch in my carry on suitcase or backpack.

if i come back with a new watch, i usually ask the wife to wear one and pack her watch in another travel pouch....

I take only a single watch for holidays. It seems too risky for me to either leave a watch in the luggage, in the carrying bag or in the hotel room for that matter.

I'd pick the best all-round holiday watch (SS Sub or Explorer II would be perfect) and leave the rest of the watches home, in the safe.

I have a travel watch case that holds two. I wear the better watch on the flight & my wife & I pack the others and that goes with us in the carry on.

I will wear the Exp II, That's my everyday watch and I feel naked without it. It's handy for telling what time it is at home when I'm in a different time zone, plus I really rely on the date window. But I have a nearly new TT white dial Daytona I've only worn once I'd like to take too, but would like for them and the wife's dress & casual watches to make the round trip safely.

I don't generally travel with more than the one on my wrist..

But, sometimes I do take another.. When I do, I take it in this and it is always in the carry-on with me, then in the safe at the destination..

The Mrs takes any other watches or jewelry in her own tavel jewelry box..

I traveled with watches in the past, now I only take the watch that is on my wrist. Trust me on this, you will have much less worries that way.

I wear one on my wrist and then carry the other one in my laptop bag (carry on). I never place anything valuable in my checked luggage.

I usually only travel with one watch and it's always my SD. If I were to travel with more than one, I would definitely go with Larry's recommendation.

I have a formal event to attend, and want to wear the TT Daytona there instead of the daily driver Exp II. I've still got a day to think about it. Might just take the Daytona, but I need to keep track of the time and date at home, 5 or 6 time zones away, and it's easier with the EXP II.

One word of caution about leaving valuables in Hotel safes, especially in unfamiliar places.

Check the insurance coverage of safety deposited items.Get something in writing....DO NOT just ask the reception staff for verbal clarification.

Get a receipt for the deposit of the item each time you deposit it.Take a photo of the item on your cellphone or camera before you deposit it.

This was a disappearing laptop....probably an employee perp or employee assisted!!!!!

Not worth the hassle, I just pick the one that will suite the trip/holiday the most and wear that one for the entire trip.
Also going to the US wearing more then one Rolex is against some import restriction ( thank Rolex USA).

Can you elaborate on this restriction?I visit the USA a couple of times a year and was planning on taking two watches with me next trip late March. If there is the strong possibility of customs hassles by wearing two watches,I'd like to get more details....thanks!

I personally wouldn't travel with more than one - why risk it?

I have a couple of the green travel wallets - they are pretty handy :)

I travel with one rolex, the original bracelet, 1 alligator and 1 leather strap. THis way, I can dress it up, dress it casual or dress down kick back.

I think the hassle with traveling into the US with several Rolex watches, maybe be customs stopping you and asking you to provide proof of where you purchased them. It all comes down to Customs wanting to get your money haha
Rolex USA has some kind of deal with customs. I think something to do with tax.
