Ok Serious Question

Maybe a stupid question but oh well

I sometimes feel silly with a SS watch while wearing gold diamond ring and gold chain, the watch seems out of place unless it were gold no? Yes I know the TT looks nice but there is something about an ALL SS watch and other gold jewlery that just seems off to me and I have taken to wearing my silver rings or white gold stuff with SS watch.

Am I being silly? And I am not as vain and shallow as this sounds just want some feedback.

Thoughts?

No, just fashion conscious. Many years ago that was one of the reasons I went with a TT DJ. However, now the only jewelry I wear is a watch. So, SS or TT, makes no difference to me . . . now.

My wife keeps telling me that I should wear Silver and SS steel cufflinks with my SS watches. And she is looking for a TT Rolex for the exact same reason as you are talking about - she wants to be able to wear both WG, YG and Silver jewelry with the watch.

I don't think you are being silly, although I think it's a bigger deal the more jewelry you wear. I don't wear chains, or rings (except for my wedding ring) and I don't have to "match" the other jewelry to my watch.

Maybe a gold bezel might do the trick?

I am the exact same way! Maybe worse! I even go so far as to make sure that the hardware on my pen is YG.

Heck - even my topsiders have YG eyelets.

For each watch I own, I have jewelry. I understand what you mean, and I feel the same way. For each watch (18K YG, 18K WG, and SS) I own a coressponding 18K WG or YG or SS chain or chains.

In addition to this, I also own a bracelet and ring in the very same metal.

If I have a watch on I have a chain, bracelet, and ring of the very same metal on me also.

I am a little gaudy as some might say and I have almost a "womanly" obsession with diamonds (Diamond is a woman's best friend?)
but I coordinate appropriately.

When I get my Daytona, I don't care how much I love diamonds, there will be no diamonds on the WG Daytona. That is a sweet watch and I would never mess it up with that!

I don't think you're silly at all, I'm much the same way. SS and platinum or sterling stuff only. If you fancy a YG chain and ring, definitely go all YG or 2 tone.

Sounds like a great excuse to get a TT watch!

Well its good to know I am not the only one with such a neurosis!

I have a SS DJ and a TT DJ but for some reason I enjoy wearing the SS more but then I dont feel right with my other YG rings and bracelet etc.

There are people with more problems...

What's a topsider and eyelet?

Btw to the OP, I am in the same boat but then again, I'm not into jewelry like that any more.

Yes a TT is essentially wearing SS with GOLD but it is somehow different if the watch is all SS and you wear a YG ring and chain, I dont know why but it is.

Shoes don't "piss" me off (or on, for that matter)

Coke is to cola as Topsider is to boat shoes... A brand used as a generic term. They are so I don't leave scuff marks on my 6,000ft long megayacht, of course!

Sperry has the Gold Cup collection: "Designed and engineered with meticulous craftsmanship, the Gold Cup Collection brings a whole new level of comfort and technology to the discerning sportsman. Full deerskin linings and 18K gold-plated eyelets offer unprecedented luxury."

My 18 karat TT watch doesn't match my 14k Yellow Gold ring. they are two different shades.

Fortunately, the only jewelry i wear is a platinum wedding ring, which matches my SS watches. I'm worse than you... I'm looking for a new Mont Blanc with platinum clip and accents, because my current Meisterstuck LeGrande with gold clip clashes with my watch and rings. :-)

P.S. When I wear cufflinks (rarely) I always wear white gold or platinum to match.

Titanium wedding ring....& titanium 'barbell type' cufflinks on a crisp white cuff when worn.

Works for me.....

It's not an unreasonable consideration, I'm conscious of matching metals or at the very least not wearing contrasting colours. We may both have OCD :)

That's one of the coolest things about this place. It's filled with guys who are as an-...er...OC as I am about these details. I not only would worry about the rings or bracelets but also belt buckles, tie tacs, the whole bit. Now I even try to get the strap color to match whatever color is dominant for the day. Sheesh !

Anybody else got a blue anodized watch (Zenith Defy "Sea", in my case) on a blue strap ?
