Vancouver question
Does anyone have recent experience with the Peace Arch border crossing from WA into BC?
It's been a while since I've crossed the border there and I'm wondering what kind of wait to expect (if any) going into Canada . . . it used to be pretty quick but I'm wondering if it's different now with the Olympics coming up and the general increase in security. |

Drove from Seattle to BC in August 2008 and in that direction (US to Canada), there was about a 5-10 minute wait (maybe 6-7 cars ahead of us) and the Canadian Border Officers were quite nice. It was a weekday afternoon (around 1:00 PM PDT).
The story is different in the other direction. We drove from BC into WA State and encountered 2 hour waits at the US Border, with queues probably 50-60 cars deep. The USCBP agents had attitudes and some were assh*les. Time of day was also a summer weekday morning (around 11:00 AM). Because of this experience, I will never do it again. Here's a website which will provide some additional information on wait times - http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Traffic/border/ It's a beautiful drive, have fun and enjoy it !!!
