Icon3 Success!

So for those who have followed the restoration (sort of) of the watch my late mother owned that will be an Xmas present for my niece, I wanted to share my success.

I managed to find a spare movement on-line so I could replace the small cap jewel that I lost for the second time, and once I oiled and installed that jewel the watch ran quite well. After letting it run for a few days to get the oils evenly distributed, I reinstalled the dial, hands (those were a pain) and then cased it. Jacqui was kind enough to model it for me once I installed the bracelet:

And here is a link to a video of the watch running:

So I have more to do on this, one item being regulation as it appears to be running a bit slow, but it's mostly finished now. I should be able to get it ready for the weekend when we have our family Xmas.

It feels good to get something that had been sitting for decades (fully wound and not running) working again.

Awesome job, my friend. I'm envious! It's a gift sure to not only be a favourite of your niece's but likely to be the gift of envy at your family GTG.

Hi Al,
Nice story and nice work on the watch for your niece. I'm sure she'll be thrilled with the gift and you get the satisfaction of fixing and giving for the Holiday.
What's next on the watch building horizon?

Yes - I polished a lot of the marks out of it already - some were very deep.
