Fluted or Domed Bezel? That is the question!

Hi to all,

Last year with the introduction of the Datejust 2, Rolex released a model with only a Fluted Bezel and Oyster Bracelet as standard. No option for Domed Bezel or Jubilee Bracelet.

Before this release there was a lot of talk on the forum about Domed Bezel being matched Oyster Bracelet and Fluted Bezel being matched with Jubilee.

Personally i never cared much for the Domed Bezel or Jubilee Bracelet. I like the Fluted Bezel and Oyster Bracelet combination, as you can see from my pics below! This may however change as i grow older!

I'am interested to know how many of you are:

Fluted Bezel Fan's only?

Domed Bezel Fan's only?

or

Does it depend on the watch? (Bracelet, Face Colour, TT etc)

Regards

Peter

I have fluted, it sparkles on both my 1505 and my 1601.

I prefer the smooth/domed bezel with the Oyster bracelet and either the fluted or engine turned (no longer made) with the Jubilee bracelet. But when I saw the new DJ II's with that enlarged fluted bezel, it sparkled like the cuts of a diamond. It you want to get more noticed: Fluted. For more low profile, more sporty: domed/smooth.

Historically I'd have said fluted with jubilee & domed with oyster....

but I saw a DJII 'in the flesh' for the first time today with the oyster/W.G. fluted combo' & it was sooooooooo beautiful that I put a deposit down on it!!

p.s..... Love your DJ Peter!!
truly 'multi-purpose' with that dial/bezel combination I bet!!!

Fluted with the Jubilee bracelet.

Domed with the Oyster bracelet.

Just my 2 cents.

I agree with JJ... but, recently the domed with Jubilee has been growing on me. If they make a 41mm SS w/domed and jubilee Date Just, that may be on my must have list down the road.
I think for now they only make that option in white gold - correct?

This depends on the watch, bracelet, and how your wearing it. Dressing up looks good with the domed.

The new 41 mm DJ2 is available only with a WG fluted bezel and SS............or the TT version with 18k YG fluted bezel and TT bracelet.

Thanks JJ - while that doesn't make me happy because I can't get what I want, it's a good thing that there is one less Rolex that I "must" have!!

For me it definitely depends - mostly on the bracelet. Fluted with Jubilee and Domed with Oyster.

I like the domed bezel look on most of the watches, to me they appear somewhat "cleaner."

I concur - Fluted and Jubilee, Domed and Oyster always. I'm not saying that the other combinations don't work, but I think it's more balanced and aesthetically looks better.
