Can't Decide???
Hello Friends,
I'm planning my next purchase. Considering my current collection, I was thinking either the stainless steel GMT IIC black dial and bezel or the stainless steel Suubmariner black dial and bezel. I know it's always personal taste, but both are fairly similar. I'm worried the the numbers around the GMT watch stand out too much. I will definitely take the time to try them both on, but was wondering what everyone thought. Thanks in advance. ![]() |

You will get votes on both because both are great watches.
I bought the GMT because I wanted the newest updates and prefered the slightly larger ceramic bezel. The numbers on the bezel are not too busy and look just great...you really dont need to worry about that at all...... pete

Wow, that's atough call. Both are very nice watches, and anyone would be hard pressed to choose between the two. I don't mean any disrespect when I say "flip a coin". It really is that close a call IMO.
Good luck with your choice, you can't go wrong. ![]() |

I used to have the Explorer II with black face. Wish I didn't sell it, but now it's time to get a more rugged watch, so I think your spot on with your pic of the Submariner. ![]() |

Sandro, both are beautiful. The GMT will allow you to track time in different time zones. The Sub will allow you to keep track of minutes elapsed.

One of the things I really like about the SS GMT is the "grayness" of the numerals on the bezel. That makes the bezel, IMO, a little more interesting than the Sub or SD.

I agree with you that they are loader than the Sub bezel which to me looks better. Go with your instincts.

I vote for the 16610, but you'll probably know when you do indeed try both on.

I too went back and forth between a back sub and a black GMT...I went with a TTblksub...Very close but for me I found the face of the sub to have slightly better eye appeal...I know that the extra hour hand on the GMT serves a nice purpose but I found it a bit distracting and went with the sub.

i think you'll end up getting both.
the gmt for formal and the sub for casual. that's what im considering right now. get the gmt 2c 1st its updated. then get the sub date later. but the current sub date is better in my opinion. i dont think i need the bigger lugs and ceramic bezel or pcl for a casual watch. but i do like the maxi dial and the new clasp. good luck |

Both amazing watches.........see which one you really like and on which you can get a good discount.
There are a couple of Sub-dates on the For Sales section of TRF that are going for good prices. Just check it out. Good luck - JJ ![]()

The GMT IIc!
![]() I think the Sub is a beauty, too. All I can say is, the GMT IIc was the first Rolex that I ever tried on my wrist. I was so taken by the way the whole thing sparkled, and the seemingly compact size and comfort for that type of watch. I love the small details, too, especially the green 24hr hand, and the bit of green text on the dial. Just a small, understated detail. Cheers, Carl
