I was robbed

Today I was a fool!! At my job (Dealership) we get from time to time get these Black guys selling knock off Rolex, Breitling and etc. Today this new kid came with one fake Breitling and two real Breitlings.

I wanted the Navitimer he settled for $800 I told him i'll give him $300 and if my Breitling AD agree its real he'll get the other $500. I guess you guys know the rest.

The number of the seller was disconnected and he said he would be back in 20 minutes he never came back. Anyway I had a really good Breitling Navitimer knock off. I was depressed all day, Untill my co-worker loved it and didnt care it was fake and payed me $300 for it. I feel alot better and will be smarter next time.

Wow, what were you thinking.
I can understand how you must have felt having been stooged like that.
Good to hear that it all worked out well by the end of the day.
Sounds like it could have been much worse. :)

I have run across several scam artists of all racial backgrounds trying to scam me. This site has made me a stronger and smarter buyer. I will be honest. I am a watch guy, and when those scam artists pull out a shinny new Rolex with sapphire, I know its not real because if it were they would sell it on the internet and make a fortune. I laugh and I have enough will power to pull away or just say no thanks. I feel very uncomfortable people trying to walk up to me and sell anything to me.

Lucky he didn't try to take your watch. I would have offered him $5 bucks or asked him to follow me to the AD, I am sure both of those would have gotten him away from me.

I think you were lucky to end up even. I suppose it's a case of once bitten, twice shy.

Guys NEVER EVER buy from the street, no matter how good it looks (and I thought I was good). Like Mikey said he could have gotten more money on EBay. It was a excellent knock off. What tipped me off was that the B on the crown was smaller than the real.

No offense, but when you thought you were going to get the Navitimer for $800, didn't you think it had to be stolen? What's up with that?

We have traced fake watches all the way back to them being made for terrorist operations funding.

Not trying to get on the moral band wagon but the same thoughts had crossed my mind,or at the very least......There ain't no thing as a bargain or if it sounds to good to be true it's probably not.

Glad it worked out for you though.

I have never been to NYC, but I am told that is like the mecca for Fake Rolex. I heard of lawyers running after counterfeit vendors for the fake Rolexes.

I believe it! Proceeds from illicit purchases no doubt go towards funding many illegal acts.

If someone off the street offered me a watch for $800, I would think that person is insane. I consider $300 alot of money to pay anyone for a watch on the street. If I would have felt like giving to someone, I would give to the guy holding a plastic cup because he's homeless. I wouldn't even let anyone know I was carrying that kinda money on me.

Oh yeah - I grew up in NYC and work here now in the financial district. I would guess that I'm approached maybe 4 times a year by a guy saying 'pssst, hey mister check it out' and he shows you a Rolex box and papers and a shiny new watch, etc... They usually want somewhere north of $500.00.

Growing up here you get used to someone trying to pull something all the time. The one thing you learn is that if it is too good to be true then guess what - it is.

I didnt think about it being stolen, and didnt care if it was. I know, I know thats wrong but living in Brooklyn where half of the things you buy "Fell out of a truck". I dont think you guys would understand. I thought I could spot a fake, I was 100% wrong. GUYS DONT BE ANGRY AT ME IF I WOULD BUY STOLEN GOODS. Some how I feel the flames flying by.

You ended up square on the deal so that was a lucky escape.

You may, though, find yourself handing over the $300 to your co-worker when the hands fall off the Shiteling in a couple of weeks.

No, you're not.

And, for the record, I've lived in Brooklyn most of my life, and never bought anything that "fell out of a truck."

Neither would I, Alan. I'd just pick it up and put it in my pocket!!
