My apologies to "rolexsubdate"
In another thread yesterday, we were all commenting on a 9kt bracelet and there was a back and forth between us over the points in the clasp's crown.
In the process of our back and forth over it, I called him a "Numbnuts" . In print, it looked rather harsh...and then the thread was locked. I just wanted to say that, as difficult as it may be to beleive, I meant you no animosity. Growing up, "numbnuts" was actually a semi-affectionate way of my dad telling us we did (or we were doing) something stupid So that is most likely why I was chuckling as I typed it and thought nothing wrong about the post. So I just wanted to say I'm sorry and please don't take it personally |

I agree Allen, to me, the term would hardly be an insult, heck, I'd take it as a compliment! But, we've also got to remember that TRF is an international organization and we have dozens of different languages and cultures on here. Yeah, I thought him getting upset was an over-reaction, but I admire your character for starting a thread to apologize.

Thanks Paul I value my membership here and thought I should clear the air. As others have rightfully said, things typed often don't convey what is intended. |

Good for you, it's nice to see some class on here! I called him rude and arrogant - I am standing by those comments, he did bring them on himself. So, while I admire you for apologizing, I am going to stick with my comments and blame it on the New Yorker in me - I call 'em as I see 'em! It did make yesterday morning less than boring to watch us all get our blood boiled with that guy. -Pete

I try my best to not piss off people on TRF, however it happens and we make it right by public apologies and move on. I do not mind making a public apologies to someone if I am wrong and I am glad others like you can do the same. Some words we use may not seem to be taken the wrong way however other people it might because of language and different countries we live in, and I got into trouble that way.

I'm going to use that on the street. "Hey Numbnuts you dropped your wallet"
"Numbnuts, did someone call 911?" "It looks like you didn't stop at the stop sign Numbnuts" That probably wouldn't go over so well. I see where you were coming from. A little sarcasm can me too much for some. I had to tone it down myself. |

You know, I think I need to apologize too... Don't know to who or for what, but I'm sure I'll piss off somebody on here someday!

Growing up, "numbnuts" was actually a semi-affectionate way of my dad telling us we did (or we were doing) something stupid
SO, let me see if I understand this. You are apologizing because you called him "numbnuts" from the semi-affectionate way? .....but you meant from the non-affectionate way?! |
