A new SD (A series)?

Guys, need your help. I've got a grey dealer informing me they have a new '98 SD. Can this be true? I've heard of 'pre-owned' but not new.

It can happen, it could be New Old Stock, NOS. Sometime dealers/collectors buy a piece and do not wear it and I have heard of AD's finding pieces in the back of the safe. It the seller is trustworthy, I would jump on it.

Scott, vs. a Z, M or V series? Does the A series have the sel? Also, I presume this has the old lume?

Pretty sure the A has SEL. And I would jump on it if it is indeed what they say it is, "NOS".

A-serial is SEL. I have 2 of them and would HIGHLY recommend it over one of the newer models because it has drilled lugs. It has SuperLuminova and should glow like a champ. Decent chance that it is "like-new", but like what was said.........there is a slim chance it is NOS.

I knew that, I forgot. I remember when they first came out, my buddy bought a Sub Date and i told him to ask the salesgal to swap out the strap for the Dweller SEL, and the gal did "at no extra cost;" for the tuna can end linked shell strap. I was surprised she did it, I was just kiddin around to see if the thing would fit on the Sub Date and it did Thank goodness for J Herbert Hall Jewelers in Westminster Mall, Huntington Beach, CA (now defunct, prolly cause they gave away too many SEL straps ! )

Keep in mind that some grey market guys clean up the watches and sell them "As new" I have seen "unworn" watches from some of these guys before that have clearly been worn. Wither way, a good deal is still a good deal. Good luck.

Two A-serials. It is just that number 3 is an M-serial

If it has box and papers (blank warranty) with matching numbers it would be a great find.

After further speaking to the dealer, I was informed the watch has the box & papers in tact, but no stickers on the watch. Would you still classify that as 'new'? When I think of the word, I would expect box/papers/tags/stickers are all in tact, similar to purchasing from an AD, correct? Am I asking for too much??

If the stickers are off then clearly it has been worn and there will be evidence of wearing and shuld not sell as new ...

Sounds as if he is pulling your leg a bit to make the sale. I would still be interested, but DEFINITELY not at new price. You should be able to buy an A-serial that is pre-owned for less than $4,000

Its not rocket science, if the stickers are ALL gone then its not a NEW piece...

Thanks guys! I told him 'no sale' on this piece. He needs to find me one with box/papers/tags/stickers. Since they like to brag that they've got a network of dealers working for them, I will need to exercise that!

They claim its new/old stock; keeping in mind this is coming from a grey dealer.
