New service prices!! OUCH!
Last year I got an estimate from the local Rolex service center for a standard movement service. I was quoted the typical $550. I decided to wait a few months till after the holidays and the bills. I went back last week. I was now quoted $750!! I was told the prices increased this year due to the weak value of the $$ to the EUR. Not sure why US labor is affected by Euro markets?!? Sadly they could not honor my original estimate as it was written more then 60 days ago

Can anyone else confirm? If true, this is really a substantial increase

Near 50% increase?!? Very disappointing. Hardly encouraging people to send their watches to RSC.

I'm going to RSC in New York (665 Madison) tomorrow to get an estimate for my Sub 14060. I'll post back with the price.

Wow! Was it an official RSC, ie, NY or Dallas? Find yourself a reputable local watchmaker. You'll save a bundle.

This is the reason I will go with a local independent watchmaker when mine needs a servicing. I know everyone says that the RSC is the most trusted and best place to service your rolex, but seriously I just cant justify spending the amount of money they are charging anymore.

Please, if anyone knows of a watchmaker local to DFW, please drop me their contact information via PM. As I also understand, they must be with an authorized dealer to be able to order parts as needed. I know of a watchmaker in Lousiana that works for an authorized dealer there but he follows the same pricing schedule as the service center. He also charges extra for parts that may typically be included in a standard service as he has to pay for them. |

After the way the handled my watch, not sure I would say they are the most trusted. Actually, I’m concerned about what they did that I can not see.

Anyone know any good watchmakers in NYC where I can get my Sub serviced? $750 is pretty crazy.

Just got my 16750 back last week. The Standard Service part of the bill was $790.00 Canadian, which also included replacement of the acrylic crystal for that model.

Just for the heck of it I called both the Dallas and NY RSCs. Dallas price starts at $555 and NY starts out at $600 for a basic service, plus parts. Screw that. I will stick with my local watchmaker.

I had my 1963 DJ serviced last year at an independent, an AD that has a staff of 3 watchmakers....reason I had it serviced was it was not running well...it needed it...this shop did a complete service...$350. They did a great job & watch is running like new!
Since Rolex closed their RSC here in L.A., I'm not wild about sending my Rolexes to Dallas. |

I haven't had one serviced recently. My 16610 Y serial is currently being serviced by a local watchmaker. Base service price is $175 plus parts. He has a Rolex parts account.

Now I need to save not only to buy my next Rolex but to have them serviced too. This is not good news.

I wanted to get my 2005 DD serviced.
My local dealer quoted $650.00 "Just drop it off here and expect 6 to 8 weeks." I could not do it for that long. |

Other than that any ROLEX trained tech on the continental USA with a parts account can underbid RUSA any day of the week !

Well, after years of collecting, wearing and having Rolex watches serviced- also working in the gray market- I can attest- there are independents that can do the job just as effective; HOWEVER, if you want the paperwork, the goodies and the RSC re-finishing know-how, you cannot go wrong with the RSC- at any price.
I guess it depends on the person, the watch, and the job at hand. Just my humble opinion, of course. |

I just walked out of RSC today with my wifes watch and paid the $555 service price I was quoted 4 weeks ago when I dropped it off. Service, new crystal, case and bracelet cleanup and tax came to $714.
