I purchased a MontBlanc Meisterstuck Doue Silver Barley last week and I have a question. When I was in the MontBlanc store looking at pens they had a stainless steel version, that was the same size, as the Doue(#144) I bought but why does the stainless steel version cost more than the sterling silver?
Your thoughts would be appreciated.....

There is really no rhyme or reason to this.

Demand would be my first guess.

Could it be platinum instead of silver? If yes, then that's probably why; Platinum costs more.

I've never known stainless steel to cost more than sterling sliver

....there must be some explanation to this.....as it is the first I've ever heard of that either in pens......or watches for that matter.

Maybe your retailer has the code numbers on the price list or the boxes mixed up, or as suggested the SS is really platinum.......

Thanx everyone...I do not get it either.....they did show me the stainless steel model and it did cost $35.00 dollars more than the Sterling Silver Doue. But maybe the sales clerk had it wrong since he was new!!!
