Whats the real deal with metal bracelets on panerai?

What is the word on the streets among the paneristi about the metal bracelets? are they a totally new thing? are they considered great or not so great? Cant find alot of history on this. also what is the best info resource (not too deep) on history of panerai. I went on wikipedia and its not really that great.

Some love them. Just as Chris and he'll vouch for them. What I do know is that they're pretty high quality and have a price tag to match. Also, there is quite a heft to one.

I am most keen on the aftermarket leather....that's just me though.

Exactly what Bryan said, they are high quality, hefty and expensive. But imo well worth it

I want one, a least just for the sake of having the option, but the $1600 MSRP is a big turn off......but who knows.....

I think they're stunning and will have a Pam on bracelet.

A lot of folks feel the strap is more in keeping with the DNA, but one can always put a strap on if you wish.

As stated the quality is extreme (as is the price). Best to get it on the watch rather than as an add on.

IMO - bracelet is a nice option for a PAM. They are solid and comfortable.
Especially if you can pick one up with a bracelet at a great price
the straps are the cheaper option but gives you the ability to change the look of your PAM.

I think I've been brain washed into thinkings PAM must go with straps. But seeing some fo the pics, esp the 312 on bracelet - I reckon they look alright. I suspect thought then look even better in person than in photos.

There is just this craziness for having a variety of leather straps for Panerai's. I think with the stainless steel strap it just looks like every other watch out there. Just my opinion. It does look nice, but not that distinctive any more.

actually... Seeing a PAM on bracelet is like change of a scenery. Kinda cool IMO.

It can be abit boring seeing PAMs on straps one After another... Then again, its a personal preference.

I wonder what is the percentage of those people pushing for straps ever tried wearing a bracelet, I doubt it would be that high since majority of the models come with straps.

In my case I started with strap models and migrated towards bracelet models. I couldn't be any more happier.

I mostly wear the leather strapped ones,BUT any Panerai collection needs one on a bracelet.Panerai OEM bracelets are extremely nice and well made !!

104 on Panerai OEM brushed/polished ss bracelet beats Daytona > no question !! ...AND been there, done just that !!
