A local AD said the price of 16610 Submariner would be $6k

And that this year's Basel will present to the world the Black bezel Stainless Steel Sub. He also said that the 16610 Submariner will be discontinued, so I'm not sure if anyone can confirm this?

Does this mean, I can't get a brand new Sub for less than $6k?

You'll still be able to beat 6K from one of the reputable folks on TRF!

Only Baselworld next month will tell us for sure.... But it's pretty well accepted that this year will see introduction of the 116610 and discontinuation of the 16610. Upgrades will include the ceramic bezel, maxi dial, and upgraded clasp. As for price...I'd be surprised if MSRP was below $7k.

The current MSRP of the 16610 is $6,000. You should be able to get a small discount from an AD or a bigger discount buying on from a grey market dealer or pre-owned.

I re-read your post, and I'm not sure which sub you want. You have the photoshopped 116610 fantasy-Sub in your avatar....

I like the current (non-ceramic) Sub. I think 42mm would be too much for my wrist. That was the one I asked the AD about and they gave me a price of $6k.

I may have to simply pay the $6k, but I was just wondering if anyone has had any luck on a discount for a brand new Sub.

thats the very reason I bought mine on Tuesday, V Series. Sub is simply the best

Stock is dwindling at ADs. Best bet would be from good guys at TRF

The current Sub Date is 40mm and the list price is already 6k...

The new Sub will be a ceramic bezel 116610, but is still 40mm...it isn't going to be any bigger. By the time the thing hits the market though, it will easily top $7k, and probably be closer to 8k...

Discounts from Dealers are rare, but there is some movement in the Grey Market and used prices...

Makes me quiver to hear a Subs gonna cost just under, "eight thousand dollars plus tax," say that with a Life Savor in your mouth while handing over your Amex card with a shaking hand !

I was

offered a 20% discount from my AD today for a brand new M series 16610, so I think you could at least negotiate for a 10%. The 16610 are still everywhere...

The list price of a GMT IIC is now at 7K... the new sub should be cheaper (unless there is a general price increase). I do not see the current model going up in price... there are an awful lot in the market even when it is phased out.

That's what we all said when they went from $4k to $5k. And then again when they went from $5k to $6k.

We're gluttons.

I hear this now and then, but I don't understand the logic.......

The Sub Date has always been more than the GMT II, until the release of the GMT Ceramic. The TT Sub ceramics are priced more than the GMT's, so it stands to reason that the ceramic SS Sub Date will be listed at more than the GMT ceramic...

If the price on the GMT goes up from 7,000 to ~7,500 this year, then the Sub will push 8,000 bucks..

I don't think Subs have every been cheaper than GMTs, like for like.

Wow,...$7K is way over priced for a steel Submariner.
I remember in the late 90's you could get a new ss Sub for under $3k.

And you could get a gallon of gas for $1.20.

I don't know if there will be any more Rolex watch purchases
in my future. I hope so but don't know due
to the rising cost of ownership.

I was just looking on the official Rolex website and they talk about how the ceramic bezel and the glidelock clasp are a part of the new Submariner. I don't know if this has already been discussed but thought it was pretty interesting. Sorry I don't have anything to add on price but I will say that I was out looking for a 16610 in Charlotte and there are none to be found.
