Visit to a local AD......

Went to one of my local ADs today and was approached by the assistant as to "was i there to buy a Rolex" as he said by my look, i was. I said i would not buy one now, and the time i "might" buy is after the Basel 2010 show,as i wanted to see what new models Rolex put out. I said to him had he heard anything from the Rolex rep as to what could be out, and all he said was that they had taken four deposits on the new Sub ceramic. AD not very helpful there i'm afraid.Even though i was not going to buy, he did let me try a DSSD and a new DJII. Both very nice watches but would really like a new Pepsi ceramic GMT.

The smart AD's will let you "shop" all day... they know that once you put your next favorite Rolex on, you will find a way to eventually buy it.

I think the good ones understand the passion that most of us feel and as long as I am not obnoxious about it, I usually tell them honestly that I am not buying, just "shopping" and if they aren't crowded, they spend some time and let me play!

I hope there is nothing amazing at Basel this year, I just can't add another "must have" to my list. lol

All this basel talk is making me anxious...

The only issue is that it'll take some months before the ADs and we get the new models.

I know, and that poses the question of the usual "What do i get if they dont make a new Pepsi" as my father-in-law bought a new GMT IIc before christmas, and i wanted something different. I am a GMT man myself more than a Sub person. I did think of getting two Pepsi GMT's, of maybe finding a BNIB or LNIB 16710, if possible, and maybe an older Pepsi llke a 16700 or maybe older. We will see what Basel brings !

I know some AD's come in for some stick, but i do have to say that i was very pleased with the particular AD i went into, as even though i had never been in there before and said i was not buying (till Basel 2010 anyway), the assistant still took time to let me try on a few models i hadn't looked at before. By the way that DSSD is a monster of a watch, subtle it aint, thats for sure, loved it.
