General consensus is that it will be Replaced at Basel with an updated Explorer II model.

Says who? It's still available quite freely at all Rolex ADs.

Haven't heard of anything, but if true, I'd guess it would bump up my watch's desireability a notch.

I stopped into an AD today, and the Rolex rep told him earlier in the day that the Explorer I is being redesigned/released at Basel and that the changes to the Explorer II were still being worked out. Take that for what its worth...

I have heard from folks who might know that changes are in the works...but no timeline is known. I'm interested to see what they come up with. The current design is classic but I bet they come up with something a little beefier...which I might prefer.

It hasn't been discontinued yet. And when they do update it, it'll be because it's an old reference, it's been around for a very long time. In need of a little bit of TLC, in my opinion

I really hope they leave the dial and case size alone... don't even super size the case. Solid Center Link and a new clasp would work good but I am happy with what's present.

I don't know what Rolex has in mind for the EXP II, but I sure do like mine! Cheers, Bill P.
