Serial Number/Model Help 16234

I have a Datejust model 16234 with an F serial number. Is this possible? I remmeber reading somewhere that Rolex model numbers changed to 6 digits in 2000. So according to that logic the F serial number would be impossible since that is from 2003. Please help/advise.
